Description

April 15 1924 1,490,565 J. T. HUNTER HATBAND Filed Dep. 20,1920
Il (l el, l)
.T rllilES 'i'. HUNTER, QF NEW YORK, N. Y.
HATBAND.
Application led December 20, 1920.
7"0 ,11W (nimm 'it may concern:
Re it known that L' .lunas T. HUNTER, citizen of United States, residing at New vforli, county and tate of New York, have invented a new Hatband. ot which the following'is a specification.
h/ly invention relates to hats, and the object is in the method of interlocking and holding' on to hats metal band-trimmings.
My invention consists of a metal band, of one piece or of number of sectors inter- ]orkcd together.
My invention also consists et a. locking shield7 and means of interlocking the ends ot the metal band to the said shield.
Referring to the draWings- Fig. l is a perspective view of a hat showingA my metal band (in one piece) and the shield, attached thereon.
Fig. 2 is another perspective view of a hat showing: my metal band in sections or sectors and the shield attached thereon.
Fig. is an enlarged transverse sectional vieiv of the hat showing a single band and interlocking shield.
Fin'. l is another enlarged transverse seetional view et the hat showing the hand in sectors or sections `with interlocking shield.
Fie'. 5 detached enlarged tace view of the sectors of the band, showing how said sectors are hinged or joined together by ribbons or wire.
Fig. 6 section (enlarged) showing; how the shield is interloclred with the band ends.
Numeral 2 represents a hat made of any suitable material-telt, snaw7 feathers, cloth, ctc.
Around the body 3 of the hat is placed the metal band 4 et any Width suitable to the hat. and composed of any class et metal-gold silver, etc.
Figs. le?, l have shown the band a Serial No. 432,139.
14, which are adapted to pass through holes l5, in band (see Fig. 5) and it need he through the hat material 18 (see Figs. Bed) Where. they are bent inward and clinched in place (see Fig. 5.)
The sectors of the band a are hinged together by metal cords 20 or ribbons 21 (see Fig. 6.)
I do not confine myself to all the above details of construction, because the principle of my invention lays simply in the interlocking and holding of metal band trimmings on to hats.
The shield may be suitably embellished along with the band. singlyr or in sectors.
l/Vhat .l claim is:
A hat band provided with means for holding the ends thereof together said means comprising a shield having prongs adapted to pass through. holes in the ends ot said band and also to clinch on the other side, said band being divided into sections and said sections provided with suitable hingeable connecting means.
ln testimony Whereo'l' l have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses, this 9th day of December, 1920.
