L. A. SOLLEDER GAME CARRIER Filed Dec. 8. 1922 7, a Loads A.5oZZeo(er waoaw 6 4 7 WITNESS: ATTORNEY Patented Mar. 18, 192%.
UITED STATES LOUIS ANDREVT SOLLEDER, F BEAUMONT, TEXAS.
GAME CARRIER.
Application filed December 8, 1922.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LOUIS A. SOLLEDER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Beaumont, in the county of Jefferson and State of Texas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Game Carriers, of which the following is a specification.
An object of this invention is to produce a device primarily designed for hunters use whereby game will be supported and carried without necessitating the employment of the usual game bags or the employment of the, game pockets in the hunters coat.
A further object is to produce a game holder having a body portion constructed of spring wire centrally rounded upon itself to form arms which are extended at outward angles with respect to each other, said arms, adjacent the ends thereof being bent outwardly in U-shape form and from thence merging into an arch to which the supporting strap is attached, one of the U-shaped members having hingedly connected thereto a lock bar, the opposite end of the bar being hooked to engage the second U-shaped members, whereby the arms of the improvement will be compressed, and the heads of game, arranged therebetween effectively sustained upon the device.
The drawing, which accompanies and forms part of this application, illustrates a satisfactory embodiment of the improvement reduced to practice, and wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improvement, two of the carriers being connected together by a strap that is designed to be supported from the shoulder of the hunter.
Figure 2 is a plan view of one of the holders.
Figure 3 is a sectional view on the line 33 of Figure 2.
By reference to the accompanying drawing, it will. be seen that preferably I employ two holders which are connected together by a strap 1, the said strap designed to be arranged over the shoulder of a hunter or others conveying shot game. Each of the holders or carriers is of a similar construc- Serial No. 605,709.
tion, and therefore a description of one will be taken as equally applicable to the other.
Each holder or carrier is formed from a single strand of spring wire of desired gauge. Each holder is centrally rounded upon itself, as at 2 and extended to provide arms 3. The arms 3 are extended at outward angles with respect to each other and each of the said arms terminates in outwardly extended substantially U-shaped portions 4. arch 5. The ends of the strand are arranged in this arch, and are soldered or otherwise connected. Hingedly secured in one of the U-shaped extensions 4: there is a locking bar 6, the opposite end of the said bar having a hook 7 to engage with the opposite U-shaped member 4. Before the hook can be brought to engage with the said U-shaped member, it is necessary to compress the arms 3, as when the lock is released, the arms are spread away from each other so that the heads of birds or other shot game may be disposed between the said arms and when the arms are compressed toward each other, the game is effectively supported on the holder or carrier.
It is thought that the foregoing description, when taken in connection with the drawing will fully set forth the construction and advantages of the improvement to those skilled in the art to which this invention relates, so that further detailed description will not be required.
Having described the invention, I claim A game carrier constructed from a strand of spring wire which is centrally rounded and extended to provide outwardly inclined arms, said arms having their ends formed with opposed outwardly directed U-shaped portions, and said U-shaped portions terminating in an arch, a locking bar hingedly secured to one of the U-shaped portions and having a hooked end to engage with the opposite U-shaped portion when pressure is exerted -upon the arms of the holder to force the same toward each other.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
LOUIS ANDREW SOLLEDER.
