S. A. HOLMES WIRE HOLDER FOR FLY PAPER Filed April 4, 1922 att ozmg Patented Jan. 15, 1924.
ENITED STATES SAMUEL A. HOLMES, OF STORM LAKE, IOWA.
WIRE HOLDER FOR FLY PAPER.
Application filed April 4,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL citizen of the United States, residin at Storm Lake, in the county of Buena ista, State of Iowa, have invented a new and useful Wire Holder for Fly Paper, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to supporting devices, and more particularly to a novel form of device for supporting sheets of paper commonly known as fly paper, it being the primary object of the invention to provide means to hold the fly paper stationary and prevent the same from being blown over with the glued surface thereof down.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character, wherein the supporting legs will act as a securing means for securing the paper to the holder.
lVith the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the com- A. HOLMES,
bination and arrangement of parts and in' the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawing Figure 1 is a perspective view of aholder constructed in accordance with the present invention showing a sheet of paper as applied thereto.
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken on line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the device comprises a body portion including a pair of opposed sections, each section being formed of a length of wire bent to provide the sections 5 and 6 respectively.
The section 5 also embodies lengths of wire 7. each of which has its ends bent around the ends 8 of the section 5 to secure the same thereto, thee'xtreme ends of the wires being formed at right angles to provide the supporting legs 9, by means of which the device may be supported in spaced relation with the surface on which the same is'mounted.
The frame 6 also includes end members 1922. Serial No. 549,530.
10 which have their extremities bent around the side member 11 of the section 5 as clearly shown by Figure 1 of the drawing, the bent extremity being indicated by the reference character 12, the side member 13 of the section 6 is provided with the offset portions 14: formed adjacent to the ends thereof, which offset portions are designed to be positioned under the side member 15 of the section 5 to clamp the sheet of paper to the device.
A handle 16 has connection with the Section 5 and is formed into a loop to permit the holder to be hung from a nail or similar supporting device. I
In the use of the device, a sheet of paper is positioned over the supporting legs 9, the
supporting legs being forced through the,
paper. The section 6 is now movedinto engagement with the paper and the extensions 14: thereof are forced over the side member 15 of the section, whereupon the paper is clamped to the support.
Thus it will be seen that the frame adds weight and supports the paper in a manner to eliminate any possibility of the device turning over, to cause the glued surface thereof to rest on the table or surface on which the device is positioned.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is I A supporting device comprising pivotally connected sections, lengths of Wire connecting the ends of one of the sections, said lengths of wire having portions thereof, extending around the opposed section and having right angled ends providing supports for the sections, extensions formed on one section, the section having the extensions adapted to engage the lengths of wire, and the extensions adapted to move over the adjacent sections to set up a binding action, and grip an article between the sections, and a handle for supporting the device.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
i SAMUEL A. HOLMES. Witnesses:
E. J. SCHULTZ, Wmmrmm O. NEWELL.
