WASHBOILER.
APPLICATION FILED SEPT.14, 1905 WITNESSES: INVENTQR:
W v Q UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. '7, 1906.
Application filed September 14, 1905. Serial No. 278 429.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT R. PRrron- ARD, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Rochester, in the county of Monroe and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Washboilers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to washboilers; and it consists in the improvement hereinafter set forth and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a Washboiler supplied with this invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail of the device; and Fig. 3 is an elevation, partly in section, showing one use of the device.
In the drawings, 1 is a washboiler of ordinary form, and 2 is the cover thereof. 3 is the handle on said cover, having the upright ends 4 4, provided with perforations 5 5 in line with each other. In these perforations rest the ends of a swinging hook device 6, which in one position is adapted to support the clothes-stick 7, and when the clothesstick is removed the said hook device may be engaged over. the edge of the clothes-boiler and support the cover thereon, as shown in Fig. 3. The said ends 4 4 constitute uprights on the washboiler-top in which the hook 6 is pivoted. The said hook device is preferably made of a single piece of wire bent, as shown in Fig. 2, so as to have a middle portion 8, and two parallel hooked curved portions 9,9,
extending from the ends of said middle portion 8 and terminating in the outwardlyprojecting ends 10 10, which ends are adapted to engage in the perforations or sockets 5 in the handle of the washboiler-cover.
When the hook device is made of wire, it is easily attachable to any washboiler after perforating the upright sides of the handle in position to take said ends 10 10, and the said hook device may be set in place on boilers having handles of different sizes.
What I claim is 1. The combination, with a washboilertop, of a pair of uprights thereon having perforations therethrough, and a hook having ends resting in said perforations and thereby supported on said uprights and adapted either to sup ort a clothes-stick or to hang said washboi e -top upon the upper edge of the body of a washboiler.
2. The combination, with a washboilertop, of a pair of uprights thereon having perforations therethrough, and a hook consisting of a wire bent upon itself and having ends sprung into said perforations and thereby su ported on said uprights and adapted eit or to sup ort a clothes-stick or to hang said washboi er-top u on the upper edge of the body of a washboi er. I
ALBERT R. PRITOHARD.
