CHILDS SAFETY CRIB BLANKE'I.
Application led April 22, 1922. Serial No. 556,003.
To all 'whom t 11mg/ concern: 1
Be it known that I, MATHEW THIERJUNG, a sub-ject of the King of Rumania, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and 5 State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Childrens Safety Crib Blankets, of which the following is a specifica-tion.
This invention relates to certain new and l useful improvements in childs safety crib blankets and has particular reference to the provision of improved means for securing the blanket in position so that the child will not become uncovered during the night due l to rolling or tossing in its sleep.
With the above general objects in View and others that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists of the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and claimed.
In the drawings, wherein like reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the severalvviews,
Figure 1 is a planv view of a blanket constructed in accordance with the invention,
Figure 2 is an enlarged fragmentary sectional view showing one of the attaching straps operatively engaged with the rail of a crib` Figiire 3 is a top Vplan view of the device shown in Figure 2, and,
Figure t is a section on the line IV-IV of Figure 3. l
Referring more in detail to the several views, the present device embodies a rectangular sheet 5 of suitable material such as flannel. or the like, which is provided with a. marginal binding composed of strips 6 stitched together and to the edge of the sheet 5 along their inner edges as at 7 and having their outer edges stitched together as at 8.
At the end portion of the blanket which is adapted to be disposed at the foot of the crib, the device is provided with three attaching straps 9 which extend outwardly at right angles tothe end edge of the blanket and which are preferably attached between 60 the two strips of binding tape 6 at their inner ends by the stitching 7 and 8. lA
button 10 is attached to the blanket as at vof the blanket by stitching 7 and 8 and between the two layers of binding tape 6, each strap 13 being provided with buttonholes 14 for adjustable engagement with a button 15 which is attached tothe upper binding tape strip 6 at the inner end of each strap 13. In order to more eectively attach the blanket in ,place near the head of the bed, an additionalstrap` 16 is attached to each side of the blanket quite close to the corner straps 13 'which are provided coincident with the binding tape 6 along the head portion of the blanket and these straps 16 also cooperate with buttons at 17 in a similar manner after passing around the side rails of the bed.. A loop -18 is attached to the sheet 5 near the inner edge of the upper binding tape strip 6 at the inner end of each of the straps 9, 13 and 16 for retaining the free ends of said straps iatly upon the sheet 5 after engagement thereof with the buttons 15 and 17,v respectively.
From the above detailed description of the construction and operation of the device, it is believed that the same will be fully understood, it being understood that minor changes are contemplated in details of construction that willv fall within vthe scope of the invention as claimed.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new is2- Y A' crib blanket ofthe class described including a sheet of material rectangular in form and bound upon all edges by contguous'binding tapes stitched together at their inner and outer edges with the stitching of the inner edges of the tape passing through said sheet at the extreme edges of the latter, a plurality of straps attached to the foot edges and side edges of the blanket by stitching7 said straps disposed with their inner ends between the binding tape strips,
MATHEW THIERJUNG.
