IMPROVEMENT IN FRUIT-JAR FASTENINGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 147,012, dated February 3, 1874); application led July 21, 1873.

My invention has for its object an expeditious and cheap construction of the yoke by v' constructing its eye with inclines, which c011- neet with a coarse screw-thread on the central stem of the cover, as hereinafter fully described. Figure 1 is a vertical section ofthe cover A and clamping-yoke B. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the yoke B.

A is the cover of a fruit-jar, and B a clamp ing-yoke, connected with the central. screwstem a by means of the circnmterential inelines b and b on the upper and lower sides of its central vplate c. rIhere is a short space at d, between the ends of the said inelines, to provide for an easy relief from the sand, as will be readily understood by founders. In order to give all the requisite strength to the connection of the clamp with the stem a., the thread e oi' the latter is constructed with a Very 4coarse pitch, as represented in Fig. 1.
I elaim as my invention- The clamping-yoke B, having circumferential inclines b and b', in combination with the -central screw-stein a of the cover A, substantially in the manner and for the purpose above set forth.
