IDENTIFICATION DEVICE.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, VIo'ron E. WEST, a citizen of the United States, residing at Me- Keesport, in the county oi Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Identification Devices, of which the followin is a specification.
This invention relates to identification de vices, and more particularly to a device spe cially adapted to be used in connection with umbrellas and similar articles.
One of the main objects of the invention is to provide a device of the character stated which, when applied, will present a neat appearance and will be readily accessible. A further object is to provide a device of this character which may bereadily pro duced at small cost. Further objects will appear from the detailed description.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of the vice applied in open condition;
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the device applied in closed condition;
Figure 3 is a detail of the securing member;
Figure 4 is a detail of the identification card.
The device includes a cylinder 1 of cork or other suitable material which is provided with a longitudinally extending and outwardly flaring opening 1 so as to permit the device to be readily fitted about rod (4 ot a umbrella A closely adjacent to handle I3. A. sheet 2 of celluloid or other suitable trans- I parent material is turned over and sewed at cured by means of fastening member 6 of elongated U-shape, the arms of this member being inserted into the tubular members 8 (Fig. 2). This serves to effectually secure the device about rod 0: of the umbrella adjacent to handle B so as to be readily acces sible. By ithdrawing member 6 the device may be readily removed or replaced, as desired.
A device constructed in this manner may be readily manufactured at very small cost and can be quickly and easily applied to the rod of an umbrella or similar article. In addition, the device may be so positioned as to be readily accessible.
What I claim is 1. In a device of the character described, a member adapted to be secured about an umbrella rod, a sheet oi transparent material secured to said member, identifying means positioned between the member and said sheet of transparent material, and means "for securing the ends of the sheet of transparent material together.
2. In a device of the character described,
a member adapted to be secured about an umbrella rod, a sheet of material secured at one end to said member and adapted to fit carried by said sheet of material, and means for securing the ends of the sheet of material together. I v
3. In a device of the character described,
. snugly about the'same, identifying means a member adapted to fit about anumbrella rod, a sheet of transparent material provided at each end with a tubular element and with an inwardly projecting flap, one of said flaps being secured to said member, a card bearing identifying data positioned adjacent to the inner face oi said sheet and confined between the sheet and the flaps, and a member of substantially elongated ei-shape having its arms fitting into the tubular members so as to secure the sheet of material about said member.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
VICTOR E. NEST.
