Application led July 25,
To all fro/wm t may concer i i "n 1 T 11 D' ne it known that i., itnwann l). i. oUiisnn,
a subject oit' the linp; et Denmark, and a resident of lllendhani, in the county of lllo'rris and State of New Jerseyj have `invented a new and linproved ll/lop *ifi/ringer, ol which the following is a lull, clear, and exact description.
rlliis invention relates to devices Alor wringing inops and has particular reference to a inop wringer which is designed to be associated with a bucket or pail for removing lroni a inop the majority oii the water and discharging the saine into the pail or bucket.
@ne ot the principal objects the pres` ent invention is to provide a niop wrii "'er D oly extremely siniple construction which renders the saine inexpensefe to 'inanutao ture and produce.
As a 'further object the invention conteniplates a inop wrinojer which inay be ex-y peditiously associated with or removed troni a bucket or pail.
The invention further contemplates noop wringer which is adjustable whereby the saine will operate in connection with buckets or pails of various height.
lilith the above recited and other objects in view, the invention resides in the novel construction set forth in the following specification, particularly pointed out in the appended claims and illustrated in the accoinpanying` drawing, it being understood that the right is reserved to embodiments other than those actually illustrated herein to the full extent indicated by the general rneaning of the terms in which the claims are expressed.
ln the drawing- Figure l is a perspective view illustrating the inop wringer in applied position to a bucket or pail.
Fig'. 2 is a ragi'nentary sectional plan view therethrough taken approximately on the line 2 2 0l Fig. l, and illustrating` the inop engaging` elements respectively in Jull and dotted lines and in open and closed position.
Referring to the drawing by characters of reference, l designates a plate which is formed at its upper end with an inturned flange ll designed to fit over the upper edge of a bucket or pail. The plate l0 is further provided with outwardly projecting parallel side flanges l2 having ver- 1922. Serial ll'o. 577,289.
l'call aligned apertures l within whichy the outturnec extremity lll provided at the upper end of a lll-shaped traine l5 are engageable. lhe lower end or the lul-shaped `trainel is turned outwardly at angle to provide loot engaging` portion 1G upon' which the the user is placed when the wringer is in use. The apertures 13 per-init of the vertical adjustn'ients or" the upper end of the lranie l5 with respect to the plate l0 whereby the device may" vided at their out-er ends with'independ` ently rotatable handles i8. rlie universal 'connection between the members l?" the ilange il consists ot axially projecting pins Y i9 anchored the rollers i7 and extendingthrougli apertures 2O in the llange, the outer ends oli said pins beino headed as at 2l to prevent detachment oi'' the rollers from .ln use and operation or" the device alter `the traine l5 has been properly adjusted with .respect tothe plate l0 to approxiniately contorni to the height oi the pail or bucket, the ilange ll is engaged upper end of the bucket or pail. ln wrir A' ing` the mop, the user places the toot the root engaging portion l the inop between the rollers te saine have been separated as illusti in dotted lines in 2. The rollers are tien advanced toward each other and the bunnies 1S grasped in the hand to prevent relative separation oic the outer Ytree ends of the rollers. rlhe inop is then drawn through the rollers which will rotate and at the saine tinie squeeze the water lroni the inop allowing the saine to be discharged into the bucket. The simplicity or the construction, as well as the use and'operation is apparent and it thus follows that an entreinely sirnple and inexpensive inop wringer has been provided which inay be manufactured and sold at a ininiinuin cost to the consumer.
claim: y
l. il niop wringer including a pair of Inop engaging' elements arranged side by side' means adapted to embrace the upper edge oi a bucket, a connection between oneY end of each inopvengaging element and the portion or the bucket edge embracing means ill) Ion said plate having disposed at the inner side'of the bucket for permitting universal turning and swinging movements of said mop engaging elements, and a loot engaging element depending from said meansand connected thereto for respectively holding said means in embracing engagement with the upper edge of the bucket and tor preventing accident-al turning movement of the bucket, *said- .foot engaging element having adjustable connection with the bucket embracing means.
2. A .mop wringer comprising a plate having an inwardly and Adownwardly turned ilangc at its upper end engageable over the upper edge of a bucket, parallel side flanges on lsaid plate having vertically spaced aligned apertures1 a foot engaging element comprising a U-shaped frame having outturned Aupper extremities engageable within the apertures of the side flanges, said iframe having an outturned lower foot engaging portion, a pair ot rollerseach having a connection at one end with the inwardly and downwardly turned flange to permit vof universal swinging and turning movement-s of saidlrollers with respect to said plate.V
3. A- mop wringer comprising a plate having auf inwardly and downwardly turned Vflange at its upper `end engageable over the upper edge oit' a bucket, parallel side flanges aligned apertures a 'toot engaging element comprising a U-shaped frame having outturned upper extremities engageable within vertically spaced the apertures of the side flanges, said fra-me having an outturned lower loot engaging portion, a pair of rollerseaeh having a connection at one end with the inwardly and downwardly turned flange to permit of universal swinging and turning movements oll said rollers with respect to said plate, said universal connection consisting of axially projecting pins anchored within said rollers and extending through the flange, and heads `termed at the outer end of said pins.
4l. A niop wringer comprising a plate having an inwardly and downwardly turned flange lat its upper end engageable 'over the upper edge of a bucket, parallel side flanges on said plate having vertically spaced aligned apertures, a loot engaging element comprising a U-shaped frainehaving outturned upper extremities engageable within the apertures of the Vside flanges, said frame having an outturned lower foot engaging portion, a pair el rollers each having a conneet-ion at one end with the inwardly and downwardly turned flange to permit of uni versal swinging and turning movements oi said rollers with respect to said plate, Asaid i iiversal connection consisting el' axially proieeting Jins anchored within said rollers and extent. through the flange, and heads .formed at the outer end of said pins, the
