T 0 all whom it mayo'oncern Be it known that I, GEORGE W. BRYANT, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Window-Cleaners Life Nets, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to life 'nets for window cleaners and the principal object is to provide a net which may be quickly and securely attached to the outside of a window without the necessity of a person ex tending more than his arms through the window for this purpose.

Another object is to provide a device of this nature which may be readily adjusted to various sizes of windows.

Another object is to provide a device of this kind which shall be simple in construction, cheap tomanufacture and highly eiiicient for the purpose for which it is designed.

With these and other objects in view which will be more apparent as the specification proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel construction, and combinatlon and arrangements of parts, the essential features of which are herein-after fully described, are' particularly pointed out in the appended claim and are illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1, is an elevation of a window with my improved device in place thereon.

represents a window frame into which are screwed or otherwise secured, a number of hooks 11, of which three are shown. on each side of the frame and one at the center bottom thereof. One of these hooks is shown in detail in Figure 2 and will be seen to be constructed similarly to a screw eye but with a slight opening at 12 to permit the passage of the rings hereinafter described. The net itself is made from light hemp rope or any suitable flexible material of this nature and is preferably water-proofed so that there will be no tendency to stretch or shrink. strands are numbered 13 and the vertical strands are numbered 14, said strands being knotted or otherwise secured to each other at their intersections so as to form a net. Secured to the edges of the net are rings 15 made of suitable size to just enter the aperture 12 in the hooks 11. Three adjustable snap hooks are shown at 16, each of said snap hooks comprising an upper portion having a spring tongue 17, the said upper portion being adapted to be snapped to the horizontal strands 13 between any two of the vertical strands 14-. The lower portion of each of the snap hooks 16 is provided with a ring 18 similar to the rings 15 as to shape and size. The snap hooks 16 are for use when a window is narrower than the full width of the net, the snap hooks may be fastened to the net at any intermediate point and-the portions 18 utilized in place of the rings 15 on one side of the net so that the net may be fitted to any size of window. At 19, the horizontal ropes 18 are shown as extended into loops so that when the net is folded these loops will form handles whereby the device may he carried in much the same manner as a shawl strap.

In use, it is preferable to first lower the upper sash of the window and hook the upper and intermediate rings 15' on the hooks 11 provided for them. The sashes are then both raised andthe lower rings 15 are hooked on the corresponding hooks 11 whereby the net is securely positioned. In case the window is narrowerthan the net, the members 16 are adjusted accordingly and hooked on members 11 at one side of the window. It is of course understood that the members 11 are placed in the window frame and left there permanently.
