Patented June 19, 1923 I n i; I
THERArEU'rIcaL APPARATUS.
Application filed April as, 1921. Serial No. 465,314.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, KrNsAKU YAMADA, a subject of the Empire of Japan, residing at No. 5 Kuroe-cho, F ukagawa-ku, Tokyo, Japan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Therapeutical Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an apparatus for curing diseases of the genito-urinary organs by introducing into'the affected part heated air, and consists in a wooden heating box provided with a heat radiator, a hot air tube to be inserted into a bodily cavity and a means to cause current of the heated air.
The object of this invention is to obtain a simple apparatus for curing diseases of the genito-urinary organs, such as gonorrhoea, inflammation of the bladder, prostatitis, or the like, which require difficult treatments, by killing with heat the germs of disease infecting the part.
The invention consists substantially in the construction, combination, location, and relative arrangement of parts, all as will be more fully hereinafter set forth, as shown in the accompanying drawing, and finally pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawings similar reference characters denote similar parts in all the views, in which Fig. l is a plan view of a therapeutical apparatus embodying my invention.
Fig. 2 is a front View showing the interior of the apparatus embodying my invention, and
Fig. 3 is a sectional view on the line A-A of Fig. 1.
To explain my instrument more fully, (1) is a wooden heating box with a hinged door (2) on the front, and at the top a square hole (3), to which is fitted a lid (4:). This lid has a hole (5) at the center, into which is inserted the open end of a blind hot air tube (6) which is to be introduced into the affected part and is held in position by a shoulder (7) provided near its lower end. This blind tube (6) through which heated air is to circulate, may be formed in any desired shape so as to adapt the part where it is to be inserted, such. as the rectum, urethra, vagina, or the like, and is perforated with innumerable small holes (8) to bring the heated air into contact with the affected part. To facilitate the circulation of heated air, there is provided within the hot air tube (6) another smaller tube (9),
whichextends nearly to the top ofthe-hot H Eur tube (6), and through which the heated air in the tube (6) is carriedaway. The lower end of this exhausttube is pro vided with a flange (10) and is inserted in-" to a short connecting tube (11). To the other end of the connecting tube (11) is screwed the upper end (12) of a pipe (13) which leads away the hot air drawn from the hot air tube (6) through the exhaust tube The upper part of this pipe passes through beam (14) running from one side board (2) to another (2) of the box (1) and is further supported by a supporting piece (15) fixed to the beam (14). The pipe (13) then passes through a side board (2) of the box (1) and terminates at any suitable means for drawing away the hot air, such as bellows (16). Above the bottom (2) of the box (1) there is provided a board or shelf (18) supported on cleats (17 be removed when desired, has a hole (19) just large enough to admit an alcohol or a gas lamp (20) placed on the bottom (2 Over the shelf (18), there is provided a heat radiator (21) made of sheet metal in aform of box. The radiator (21) has pierced through its bottom a hole (22) to admit the burner of the lamp (20) and through its sides semi-circular holes (23) to admit supply of fresh air. hinged on the front of the box (1), extends at itslower part only to the shelf (18) and is cut off at its lower edge as at (24;) to admit fresh air into the box (1). The top board (2 of the box (1) has a hole to insert a thermometer (25) for the purpose of observing from outside the temperature within the box (1).
The apparatus as shown in the accompanying drawing is one intended for use with the rectum, but I need not say that by slight alteration in shape or size or both, of the hot air tube, it can be used with the urethra or vagina.
To use my apparatus, first, light the lamp, and when the temperature within the box rises to a desired degree, insert the hot air tube into the rectum, urethra, or, vagina, as the case may be, and work with hand the means provided for drawing away the hot air frointhe hot air tube. Then the hot air thus drawn away will be replaced by fresh supply from the heating box or chamber below. By keeping the affected part This shelf (18) which can The door (2) which is in contact, in this way, "Witha current of the air'heated to a desired'temperature, such diseases as prostatitis, inflammation of bladder, gonorrhoea, or the .like,' will be perfeotly and speedily heated.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent v A therapeutical apparatus" consisting in a combination of a heating box provided With I a hinged door part -offwhi ch is out off, heat radiator provided Within the heating box,
a lid fitted'to" a hole'at the top board of the heating box, a hot air tube perforated with innumerable small holes and inserted in the hole of the lid, exhaust tube provided Within the'hot'air tube, and a pipe for leading
