Abstract

287,772. Tomasulo, C. P. Aug. 15, 1927. Heating appliances; uterine appliances; specula and other dilating instruments.-A device for heat treatment uterine ailments comprises a hollow plug of aluminium &c. formed with a tapering body portion 1, Fig. 2, an outer flange 2, and a stem 3 to which a warm water 'supply tube is attached. An expansible balloon 5 for the reception of the warm water is attached by binding 6 to, and is adapted to be folded and stowed within, the body portion 1, which is then inserted in the part to be treated. The balloon 5 is next filled with warm water forced from a vessel 7, Fig. 1, through pipe 14, tube 9, coupling 11, and tube 4 by a bulb 16 or an air pump. When it is desired to replace the water, or to collapse the balloon prior to removal, the water is withdrawn through tube 4, coupling 11, and tube 10 to a vessel 8. Tubes 9, 10 have control clips 12.
