UNITED STATES SARAH E. MCCREARY, or HIGHLAND, KANSAS,
HOSE SUPPORTER.
Application filed October 12, 1920. Serial No. 416,379.
T all whom it maig concern Be it known that I, SARAH E. MCCREARY, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Highland, in the county of Doniphan. and
State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose Supporters; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to an improvement in hose supporters and more particularly to such as are adapted for use in supporting womens stockings from the corsets, one object of the invention being to so construct a supporter of the type specified that the stocking may be effectually supported without the use of clamps or clips which are liable to tear the stockings and to draw or break threads of the same, and which shall be comfortable to the wearer and permit free movements of the leg withoutdiscomfort to the wearer or danger of injury to thestocking.
I/Vith this and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts as hereinafter set forth and pointed out in the so claim.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure l is a view of my improved supporter, and Fig-' ure 2 is a view showing the application of the device, and Figure 3 is a rear view.
In the drawing a portion of a leg is represented at 1 and the lower portion of a corset is shown at 2. My improved supporter comprises two straps 3, 3, preferably of elastic webbing and connected at their upper ends by means of a strap 4 of similar material, said strap 4 being disposed at right angles to the straps 3, 3, and rigidly secured at one end to one of said straps 3 at the upper end of the latter. The other end portion of the cross-strap 4 is passed through a loop 5 connected with the upper end of the other strap 3 and the free end of the strap 4 after passing through the loop 5, is adjustably connected to the body portion of said strap 4; by means of a buckle 6-. To the upper ends of-the straps 3, 3, extension straps 6, 6, are secured. The straps 6, 6, may be somewhat wider than thestraps 3 and are preferably made of inelastic material.
The upper ends of the straps 6 are to be con nected in any suitable manner with the corset of the wearer and the lower ends of the straps 3 are provided with clasp members 7, 8, respectively.
In applying the device to the leg I of a wearer (it being understood that the 6 are connected with the corsets or other garment of the wearer) the cross-strap l is placed over "the leg just above the knee so as to overlie the upper portion of the stocking. The depending straps 3, 3, are then passed in opposite directions respectively, under the leg so that they will cross each other just behind the .knee and the free ends of said straps 3, 3, are then brought over the front of the leg, just below the knee, and constraps nected together by the clasp devices 7-8. If
desired'one or both of the straps 3 may be i made adjustable for length by means of suitattible buckles, aswill be readily under-' stoo I With the use of my improvement the 1 straps members 3 and 4 will have suflicient I frictional engagement with the stocking to I claim as new and ters-Patent, is:
A hose supporter, comprising two elastic strapsprovided at their lower ends with aving fully described my invention what desire to secure by Let the stocking is obviated. My
means for connecting them together below the knee of the wearer, an elastic cross strap connecting the upper ends of said first mentioned straps in position to engage the upper portion of the hose of the wearer, and an inelastic strap secured to the upper each of said first mentioned straps and each end of i V of said inelastic straps adapted for independent connection with a garment of the wearer.
In testimony whereof, I have signed this presence of two subscribspecification in the ing witnesses.
SARAH E. MoCREARY. Witnesses:
