vention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to'make and use the same. i
The invention relates to envelopes and more particularly to an article of this nature designed chiefly for containing offerings,
such as contributions to devotional institutions and for charitable and other purposes, whereby difierentcoins, or coin and paper money, may be kept separate by the donor,
'thereby facilitating the classifying of the donation and the aggregating or totalizing of the several offerings.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent and suggest themselves as the nature of the invention is understood.
While the-drawings illustrate an embodiment of the invention, it is to be understood that in adapting the same to meet different conditions and requirements, various changes in the form, proportion and minor details of '30 construction may be resorted to without departing from the nature'of the invention.
Referring to the accompanying drawings forming a part of the specification;
Figure 1 is a perspective iew of the en-' velope, the sealing flap being extended,
Figure 2 is a View of the blank, and I Figure 3 is a detail view showing the first step in the folding of the blank.
Corresponding and like parts are referred .0 to in the following description and designated in the several views of the drawings by like reference characters.
An envelope constructed in accordance ith the present invention embodies a front a back 2 and a partition 3. The several parts are of uniform size and constitute parts of a single blank, as indicated most clearly in Figur 2. Securing flaps 4 and 5 are provided at adjacent edges of the front 1 and corresponding flaps 6 and 7 are provided at adjacent edges of the back 2. A sealing flap R is providedat the upper edge of the front 1 and when closed extends over the partition 3 and back 2 and is secured to the outer side of the latter. By having the parts '1, 2 and 3 of like extent, there is no liability of the contents of one pocket passing therefrom into the other pocket. The blank is practically of uniform width and is elongated as. 5 I
indicated most clearly in Figure 2.
\Vhen forming the envelope, the several parts are folded on the dotted lines indicated in Figure 2, which dotted lines assist ma-- initial step the blank is folded upon itself so that the partition 3 overlies the front 1 terially in defining the several partsu In the after which the fiap 5 is folded upon the partition and adhesively secured thereto. The back 2 is now folded upon the partition 1 3 and flap 5, afterwhich the flap 4- is folded upon the back 2 and secured thereto and the flaps 6 and T folded'upon the front 1 and secured thereto. This completes the'fOrmation of the envelope which appears substantially as indicated in Figure 1. Pockets are 7 formed upon opposite sides of the partition 3, the latter being common thereto. The envelope is sealed by folding the flap 8 upon the back 2 and securing it thereto in the usual way. It will be understood that an envelope constructed in'accordance with this invention obviates the waste of material and insures separation ofthe'contents of the two pockets and enables both pockets to be sealed by one and thesame flap. J
What is claimedis A duplex envelope comprising a blank embodying a front, a back, and a single member connecting the inner edges of the front and back and adapted to form a partition when the blank is folded, said front, backand partition member being of'uniform size, a sealing flap at the upper edgeof the front, closing flaps at the outer edge and bottom of the front, and other closing flaps at the outer edge and bottom of the back, the
flap at the bottom edge of the front being secured. to the outer lower edge portion of the partition, th flap at the outer edge of the front being secured to the back, andthe flaps at the back being secured to corresponding edge portions of the front.
