CLOSURE FOR TUBES Filed Dec. 30
ATTORNEYS Patented MayZQ, 1923-.

CHARLES JOHN HAUK, J'RL, OF YONKERS, NEW YORK.
CLOSURE FOR TUBES.
Application filed December 30, 1920. Serial R0. 434,102;
The present lnvent on relates'to new and useful: improvements in collapsible tubes,
and it pertains more particularly to sure therefor. I
It is one of the objects of the presentinvention to provide "a closure for tubes in which the ordinary screw-thread commonly employed in a device of this, character, is
a clodispensed with, the tube neck and cap'being so constructed as to lock with a partial turn of .one relative to the other.
It is a furtherobject of theinvention to provide means whereby the cap cannot be come entirely removed from the tube thereby preventing accidental loss of the cap.
It is a still'further object of the invention to provide such captive means for. the cap as willnot interfere with the free and easy operation of placing and removing the ca y ' fteferring to the drawings 1 is adetail sectional view of aslight ly modified form of the invention showing in full lines the closure in closed position, and in dotted lines the closure in openposition; V I
' Fig. 2 is a top plan view showing in full lines the closure in open position. and Fig; 3 is an inverted plan view of the closure. a In the drawings the tube 10 with a groove 30 inits upper portion adjacent the base of'the neck 11. This groove isarcuate in form andcircular in cross-sec is provided tion, and it isprovided intermediate of its ends with notched out'portio'ns 31, the purpose of which will be hereinafter described.
Thev cap 15 is provided with a depending leg 29 upon the lower end' of which is a T-head 32, said T-head being circular in cross-sectional fornrandadapted to be received within the groove 30 for sliding thereof. The
movement longitudinally groove 30 is notched out as at 31,'as l1ereinafter described, for the purpose of permitting of the insertion of the T-hea-d 32 into the groove 80. The groove 30 is further notched" out as at 33, and said notched out portion 33 is, adapted toreceive the stem 29 of the cap15, when the cap is moved to the r.
open position as shown in Fig. 2.
From the foregoing it is apparent that the. present invention provides a new and novel closure for tubes, and that the construction thereofpermits of a closing of the tube with only a. partial rotation of the tube and I cap relative toeach other.
Furthermore, the invention proximity to the'closure thereof iii-order I provides means for retaining the cap. onthe tube in that the same may not become accidentally displaced and lost. .I claim In a tube. closure, a tube,-an elongated re I cess formed in the neck of said tube and of substantially circular cross sectional form, r
the top walls of said recess having a cut-out portionintermediate of its ends, a closure cap, and means in tlie'form of a headed 1 stop carried by said cap and having sliding engagement with therecess of the tube to re tain the cap in position upon the tube, said headed stopflbeing insertable into. the elon-' gated .recess throughv the cut-away port-ionv intermediate of its ends.
