Description
Patented May 8, 1923.
SOLOMON H. GOLDBERG, 0F CHICAGO. ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR TO THE HUMP 'HAIRPIN MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, A CORPORATION OF ILLINOIS.
HAIRPIN' CONTAINER.
Application led .Tuly 15, 1918. Serial No. 244,829.
To all wiwm it may concern.'
Be it known that I, SOLOMON H. (JroLn- BERG, a citizen of the United States. residing in the city of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hairpin Containers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements 1n hairpin containers and has for its object to provide simple and economical means for holding a plurality of hairpin bundles of different sizes in proper alignment v1n the box or other container but in such a way that they may be readily inserted in or removed from the container.
In the drawings:
Fig. l is a top plan view of the box o r container with the hairpinbundles in-position but with the top of the box removed.
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section through the box with the pins omitted.
Fig. 3 is a sectional detail taken on lines 3-3 of Fig. 1 looking in the direction of b the arrows but showing the top in place.
Fig. 4 is a detail View of a portion of the spring gripping retaining strip.
eferring to the drawings,- 1- designates the box having a bottom 2, side walls 3 and removable slip cover top 4. In the box is seated a retaining member designated asa whole 5 and comprising base members 6 which may, if desired, be pasted tothe bottom of the box, and a centrally disposed vertical retaining strip 7. This strip may be formed by bendin the base portions centrally upon themseves in the manner clearly shown in Fig. 3. The retaining strip ex- K ings.
tends diagonally across the box and is provided with apertured spring gripping fingers 8,.the apertures being of succeedingly increasing size as shown clearly in the draw- The upper edges of the spring gripping fingers preferably approach each otherv so as to lit more or less around the bundle of hairpins. The arrangement is such that when the bundle of hairpins are placed in the box, the closed end of thepins will pref'- erably lie against the one `wall of the box and the bundle of pins lit between the corresponding spring gripping fingers. The pins of each bundle are held together by means of a band 9. The band 9, it will be seen, in the drawing, lies between the retaining strip and the wall of the box and serves to limit the movement of the pins awady from the wall of the box adjacent the hea s of the pins. It will also be seen that the bundles of hairpins of different sizes can be used. The construction not only gives a neat and attractive arrangement of the pins ut insures of the hairpin bundles being at all times` in their properqplace in the box so there is no liability of their being disarranged during their shipping.
I claim as'my invention:
A hair pin container comprising a box portion and a double retaining Wall provided with-a series of spaced slotted apertures therein forming sprin gripping fingers to hold hair Iin bundllres in position, said retaining wal extending diagonally lacross the box portion whereby a plurality of bundles of hair. ins of different sizes or lengths may be heldp in ali nment.
