A TTORNEY.
The pins .12 and 13 terminate in conical surfaces 25 and 26 respectively which torni a space for receiving,` a lug' or ball clasp 27 carried by the trame member 8.
rEhe action or' the clasp device is as tollovvs: rlhe .spring 2e, abutting at one end against the pin 12 and the tubular member 14 and at the other end against the cap 23, exerts an outwardly directed pressure upon, both the pin 12 and the pin 13, and these pins are thereby normally retained in a position abuttingeach other. This position oi the pins, Which is the locking position, isY
illustrated in Figs. 2 and 1i. ln this posiion the surfaces 25 and 2b' of the pins are close together and the space Yformed between them is ot' a size slightly smaller than that which is required to permit the tree passage of the ball clasp 27. With the bail clasp disengaged from the pins in the open position, as illustrated in Fig. 3, if the frame members are brought together to close the bag and then forced together With a slight pressure ot the fingers the ball clasp ivillsnap into locking position against the pressure of the spring 24, this position being illustrated in Fin'. 2. lf/When snapped into this locking position, the lug` is iirmly held by the surfaces and L@ of the pins, the trame mem bers are locled together and the bag` is securely held against opening. The clasp device is operated to open the bag; by applying an inward pressure on the caps 16 and 28, this being' conveniently done by grasping both these caps between the lingers and pressing inwardly upon them. By exerting` pressure in this manner the pins are 'forced apart and moved one relative to the other axially to a position in which the surfaces 25 and 26 are separated and the space redresse l formed thereby is enlarged an amount sufficient to permit the iree passage of the ball clasp. ball clasp is mounted will then be released and the bag,- may readily be openedj rihe bag is suspended tor carryng` it trom a chain or strap which is secured to the bail 2S.
