CHARLES C. CASEY, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
DISELAY STAND.
Application filed June 24,
To a whom may concern:
Be it known that 1, CHARLES C. CAsnY, a citizen of the United States of America residingat Detroit. in the county of Wayne and State of ll lichiean, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Display Stands, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
My invent-ion aims to provide a display stand made of a single piece ol material bent to triangular form to provde a sub stantial base andv an article supporting apex, the stand being especially designed tor displaying and supporting small articles, for instance, jewelry.
My invention further aims to provide a simple, durable and inexpensive display stand which will possess considerable rigidity and be susceptible to any desired finish. In some instances the stand may be finished to set forth the appearance of an article attached thereto, or it may have av finish permitting of the stand beingprovided with printed matter so that it may he used for advertisement purposes or as a price marker for the article supported thereby.
The construction oi the display stand will be hereinafter described and then claimed, and reference will now be had to the draw ing, wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view of the display stand;
Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same and Fig. 3 is a plan of a blank from which the stand is made.
To put my invention into practice. I proviilc an oblong blank 11 of cardboard. fiberoid or any material that can be easily and quickly cut and stamped to proper shape and then bent or folded to a triangular term. the blank being bent on transverse scored or weakened portions 2 and 3. such scored portions indicating where bending of the blank will properly proportion parts of the blank to form a stand. 7
In bending the blank at the scored places 2 a base formed having diverging; legs 4; and 5, the former oi less length than the latter so that when the stand is placed on a base the leg 5 will be disposed at a more 1921. Serial No. 480,087.
acute angle relative to a base or support than the leg 4. Bending oi": the blank at the scored portions 2 also provides a rear wall 6 and a front wall 7, said walls converging with the upper ends thereof in contact. The upper ends of the walls terminate in ton genes 8 which are bifurcated or slotted, as at 9 and the tongues are placed in parallel registration and glued or otherwise connected together to maintain an apex for the triangular shape of the stand. The connected tongues 8 are bent forwardly, on the scored portions 3, so that said tongues will be dis posed. at an obtuse angle to the front wall 7. said tongues overl'iangging the tront wall 7 to permit of an article or articles being suspended from the tongues on the front wall (i For instance, it is possible to place a watch on the front wall 7 with the stem of the watch anchored in the slots 9 of the tongue. Various articles of jewelry can be suspended from the tongues 9 and by ds posing the rear wall 6 at an acute angle to a vertical plane and the front wall 7 at an. obtuse angle to a horizontal plane the stand is prevented from accidentally tiltingdue to the weight of an article on the stand. Such a stand provides a durable and inexpensive watch holder for on a desln bureau or other support and since the walls may be provided with printed matter it is obvious that the stand may be used for advertis'ngpurposes and distributed gratis.
What I claim is itdisplay stand made of a single piece of material bent to provide a base composed ot diverging legs and converging: walls extend ing' upwardly from the cdee at said base and angularly disposed connected toueues at the upper ends of said walls. one of said walls being" at a greater angle to said base than the other will with the tongues overhanging the wall of greatestanp ularty andv having matched slots the tull depth thereof.
In testimony whereot l at ix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
