Description

Nov. 6 1923. 1,472,820 P. H. WHITE DISPLAY DEVICE Filed Dec. 14, 1921 INVENTOR Peigggfi. Whig ATT c- NEY.
Patented Nov. 6;, 1923.
PERCY H. WHITE, F BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO R. TYSON WHITES SONS, OF BROOKLYN, ,NEW YORK, A PARTNERSHIP.
DISPLAY DEVICE.
Application filed December 14, 1921.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PERCY H. WHITE, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York city, borough of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York,
have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display Devices, the following being a full, clear, and exact disclosure of the one form of m invention which I at 1 present deem prefera le.
For a detailed description of the present form of my invention, reference may be had to the following specification and to the accompanying drawing forming a part thereof, wherein Fig. l is an end elevation and Fig. 2 a front elevation of my device.
My invention relates to a display device for containing and exhibiting bottles of perfumery, pencils or other articles, it being desirable to have a container for such articles of a form which can also be used to display them in an attractive manner on a counter or show case in a shop.
Referring to the drawing A represents a back sheet of pasteboard in the form of a semicircular disc having at its lower edge a flange A extending from the plane of the sheet at an obtuse angle, whereby the flange will serve as a horizontal base on which the device rests while the back stands up in an inclined position with respect thereto. The back sheet A is stamped from a large sheet that has been covered on its rear side with fancy or ornamental paper, a. At the same time it is scored on its lower rear edge to allow the flange A to be turned up therefrom at the desired angle. Then, after being thus stamped out, the front side of the back sheet, together with the flange A is also coated with ornamental paper a and a binding strip a applied to its periphery. I then take a semicircular block of wood B with holes bored radially in its periphery to receive the articles to be displayed, and to the outer side of this block I glue a semi circular sheet of pasteboard C having a radius, somewhat greater than the block but less than that of the back sheet A and the flange A is held rigidly at the declined sheet and a forwardly projecting Serial No. 522,354.
projecting below the straight edge of the block. The front side of sheet C is left blank for the application thereto of such printed matter as the user of the device may desire but a binding strip 0 is applied to its periphery. The block B, together with the front sheet C secured thereto, is then applied to the front face of block sheet A and glued thereto, the lower edge 7 of the block registering with the lower edge of the block sheet. The projecting lower edge of the front sheet G will then extend down to meet the front edge of flange A and will be secured thereto by a strip ofpaper glued to both sheets. By this means sired an le and affords a substantial base for the evice. At the rear of sheet A I also apply an easel E, which, together with flange A affords a secure base for the device. 7
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. A display-device formed with an inclined back sheet having a flange at its lower edge, a recessed block secured to the front face of said back sheet, and a front sheet secured to said block with its lower edge secured to the front edge of the said flange.
2. A display-device formed with an inclined back sheet having its lower edge bent forward to form a horizontal base, a block having radial recesses in its periphery secured to the front face of said back sheet and projecting forwardly therefrom and a front sheet secured to the face of said block with its lower edge secured to the front edge of the said flange.
3. A display-device, formed with an inflange, an easel secured to the rear side of said back sheet and co-operating with said flange to provide a base, a block having radial recesses in its periphery applied to the face of said back sheet and a front sheet outside of and secured to said block with its lower edge secured to the front edge of the said flange.
4:. A display device comprising a back sheet having a supporting flange, cover sheets extending over the front and back faces of said back sheet, a block secured to 5 the front of the covered back sheet, said block having radial recesses in its periphery, and a front sheet attached to the exposed face of said block and having its lower edge secured to the free ed e of said flange.
Signed at New I ork city, State and 10 county of New York, this 8th day of Dec. 1921.
PERCY r1. WHITE.
