Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 144,111, dated October 28, 1873; application tiled August 13, 18ml To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAML. D. KNIGHT, of Bryan, in the county of lVilliams and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Saw Set and .Iointer Oombined; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanyin g drawings, which form part of this specitcation.
rllhe nature of my invention relates to an improvement in devices for dressing the teeth of saws; and it consists in a suitable bar having one slot in which the saw tits, and another shorter one extending at right angles thereto to receive a iile, both slots having one or more set-screws or equivalent devices extending into them, as will be more fully described hereafter.
The accompanying drawings represent my invention.
a represents a suitable bar, having the slot 6 extending the greater part of its length, which fit-s over the edge of the sa-w. Forming part of' this slot, and extending at right angles to it, is a shorter slot, 7, in which a tile, S, is secured by means of a set-screw, 9. Extending through the side of the bar c into the slot 6 are two or more setscrews, t', which regulate the width of the slot according to the thickness of the saw, so that in working the le back and forth, for the purpose ot dressing oft' the points ofthe teeth after they have been upset, it may move perfectly straight and even.
Having thus described my invention, I claim- A device for jointing long saws, consisting ofthe slotted iile-hoider a, having legs to form au extended bearing on both sides ofthe sawblade, and provided with set-screws t9, as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing lV have hereunto set my hand this 22d day ot July, 1873.
