Be it known that I, GABRIEL BAUM, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Brooklyn, in the'county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and improved Display Doll and Dress Outfit, of which the following is a description.

My invention relates to a display outfit and especially is intended for the display of a childs dress. It is well recognized that the mere appearance of a dress on a counter or in a box does not enable one to determine the efl'ect of the dress when worn, and it is the general object of my invention to display the dress in folded form in small compass and at the same time to display the appearance of the dress when worn, whereby an intended purchaser may readily judge as to the desirablility not only of the dress itself as to material, design, and style, but may instantly glimpse the appearance and effect of the dress when worn, and this, without disturbing or wrinkling the folded dress, the outfit thus preventing repeated handling and wrinkling of the dress.

The stated object is attained by providing an outfit in which a miniature dressed figure is held in the container in juxtaposition to the folded dress, and the dolls dress corresponding in every respect with the childs dress, the one serving to satisfy the enquirer as to the general appearance of the dress in full size and to simultaneously enable the enquirer to determine the appearance of the same dress, as worn.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, it being understood that the drawings are merely illustrative of one embodiment of the invention.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a display doll and dress outfit constituting an actual embodiment of my invention;

Figure 2 is a perspective view of the child wearingthe dress of the outfit and carrying the dressed doll of the outfit.

In carrying out my invention in accordance with the illustrated example a box 10 is provided having tie strings 11, 12 for holding in fixed position a childs dress 13 and a dressed doll 14:, whereby the dress will be held in folded position to display the nature and quality of the material as well as the pattern of the fabric and the style and ornamentation of the dress.

The dress 13 of the doll 1 1 constitutes an exact or substantial representation in miniature of the actual dress 13 being made of the identical material, the design thereof, and in the same style, and preferably. with the same ornamental elements. If desired, the dolls dress may be left without certain ornamental elements, such, for example, as embroidery elements, thereby leaving it for the child to produce the same embroidery elements on the dolls dress as appears on the childs dress. The actual dress and the miniature representation thereof are here shown with bloomers 15, 15*, respectively, and with ornamental elements 16, 16. respectively. The element 13 represents the childs neck ribbon suspended from a

13 and 13 represents the corresponding ribbon on the collar 13 of the doll. Since the mere appearance of the unworn dress does not enable one to judge the effect of the dress when worn, intending purchasers re quire usually that the dress be placed against the child and otherwise handled in ordinary practice. With my improved display outfit no disturbance of the actual dress is necessary because all the information needed can be ascertained, the intended purchaser being enabled to take in at one glance both the actual dress and the exact miniature representation thereof, showing the effect when worn. Thus, the actual dress is at all times maintained in its most attractive appearance with obvious advantages to the merchant.

In addition to the stated advantages and merits of the display outfit the important result is obtained that people are enabled to cultivate good taste with respect to the garb of a child and the related garb of a doll carried by the child.

I would state in conclusion that while the illustrated example constitutes a practical embodiment of my invention, I do not limit myself strictly to the exact details herein illustrated, since manifestly the same can be considerably varied without departure from the spirit of the invention as defined in the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, I claim:

1. As a new article of manufacture, a display doll and dress outfit consisting of a vendable unit comprising a container, a childs made dress held therein, and a dressed doll held in said container in juxtaposition of the childs dress, the dolls dress being in minia- Q i I 1,434,279
