T 0 all whom it may concern r Be it known that l. 'HERMAN L. Gnnvn, a citizen of the United States, and resident of the city of New York, in the county of Kings and State of New York have invent ed certain new and useful Improvements in Mailing \Vrappers, of which the following is a specification.

vMy invention relates to mailing wrappers and. particularly to mailing wrappers for books.

The object of the present invention is to provide an adjustable mailing wrapper that can be adjusted within its capacity to conform to the length of the book to be mailed.

A further object is to provide a wrapper the edges of which are turned to form pleats which overlie and abut the edges of the book enclosed and thus better protect them and also prevent the wrapper from shifting its position relative to the cover of the book.

Referring to the drawings which form a part of this specification,

Fig. 1 is a plan view of the inner side of a part of a wrapper embodying my invention;

Fig. 2 is an end view thereof;

Fig. 3 is a plan view of the inner side of another part of the wrapper and Fig. 4 is an end view thereof.

Fig. 5 is a view of the inner side of the complete wrapper and Fig. 6 is an end view thereof.

Fig. 7 is a perspective view of the wrapper as it appears when inclosing a book ready for mailing.

A and B indicate the two body portions of the wrapper which is made of strong flexible paper or other suitable material and C indicates the outer edge portions,'

which are folded over and cemented to form a pleat at each outer edge on the inner side thereof and which rests on the edge of the book as illustrated at D in Figure 7.

The portion A is formed with a side portion E, the ends E--E' of which are passed through the slots FF formed in the portion B and cemented together as shown at G in Figure 5, forming a slide-band which is free to move the length of the guide portion H, and which holds the two body portions together. Having thus described my invention 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. mailing wrapper for a book comprising a body portion made of thin flexible material, consisting of two parts of equal length which are relatively detachable and the inner edges of which are. held together in overlapping and adjustable relation to each other.

2. A mailing wrapper for a book comprising a body portion made of thin flexible material and having two parts of equal length held together and relatively adjustable and adapted to be folded about a book, said portions being relatively detachable.

3. A mailing wrapper for a book made of thin flexible material consisting of two 1011- gitudinally extending portions of equal length held together and laterally adjustable relative to each other said portions being relatively detachable.

4. A mailing wrapper for a book made of thin flexible material consisting of two longitudinally extending portions of equal length held together and laterally adjustable relative to each other and each portion having its outer edge turned to form a shoulder said portions being relatively detachable.

5. A mailing wrapper for a book made of thin flexible material consisting of two longitudinally! extending portions of equal length held together and laterally adjustable relative to each other and each portion having its outer edge turned to form a shoulder adapted to extend around the end of the enclosed package, and means connected to said body portion for securing it in position on a book, said portions being relatively detachable.

A mailing wrapper for a book comprising a body portion made of thin flexible material and having two parts of equal length and relatively adjustable and adapted to be folded about a book and cover the same, and means connected to said body portion for securing it in position on a book, said portions being relatively detachable.

7. A mailing wrapper for a book made of thin flexible material consisting of two longitudinally extending portions of equal length and comprising a slide band and guide for holding them together in adj ustable relation, said portions being relatively detachable. 1 .i

A mailing Wrapper for a book made of thin flexible material consisting of two longitudinally extending portions of equal lengtl'i and comprising a slide band and guide for holding them together in adjustable relation, and the edges of Which are folded over to increase their stiffness, said portions being relatively detachable.
