This invention relates to toy furniture and has for its object to stamp or form a bed, crib or the like in a single piece from sheet metal, or other suitable stiff material, and to thereby provide a simple, light, strong and durable article of this character.

rlhe invention is fully described in the following specification, and while, in its broader aspect it is capable of embodiment in numerous forms, a preferred embodiment thereof is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which,-

ln making a bed embodying the invention, whether the bed be of the stationary or rocking crib type, it is stamped or formed in a single piece from any suitable stiff sheet material, but preferably sheet metal, and has a body portion comprising the opposed side rails l, l, the opposed

A flange integrally projects frointhe outer edge of each side rail l, being co-eX- tensive in length therewith and this flange is bent upward at the outer side of the rails l to form the rails with upwardly projecting sides.

The metal at the outer side of each end rail 2 is cut to form a supporting member 7 of any suitable form, which is bent down from the outer edge of the end rail and, in the present instance, is shown as being of rocker form so that the bed may be used as the outer sides of the end rails 2 such rails are materially strengthened against bending and distortion when a downward pressure is applied through the bed on to the end supporting members 7.

The end uprights l and Hanges 6 are shown as having openings 8 and 9 respectively provided therein to give such'members the appearance of slat construction.

It is evident that a bed made in accordance with my invention is strong and durable in construction and is simple and inexpensive to make. n

l wish it understood that my invention is not limited to any specific construction, arrangement or form of the parts, as it is capable of numerous modifications and changes without departing from the spirit of the claims.

Having thus described my invention, what l claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is,- y

1. An article of furniture of the class described', formed in a single piece from sheet material, comprising a body part, supporting members struck from the material without the body part, and upright members struck upwardly and outwardly from the material within the body part.

2. An article of furniture of the class described, formed in a single piece from sheet material, comprising a body part, supporting members struck from the material and bent outward and downward from opposite ends of the body part, and end uprights struckl from the material within the body part and bent upward and outward from its ends in inwardly spaced relation to the end supports.

3. An article of furniture of the class described, formed in a single piece from sheet material, comprising a body portion having side and end rails integrally connected lat their ends, cross-bars connecting the side rails intermediate their ends, and supports extending downward from the outer edges of the end rails, and end uprights extending upward -from the inner edges of the end rails.

4. An article 0il furniture of the class described, formed in a single piece from sheet material, comprising a body portion having side and end rails integrally connected at their ends, cross-bars connecting the side rails intermediate their ends, end supports extending downward from the outer edges of the end rails, end uprights extending upward from the inner edges of the end rails, and spurs projecting inwardly from the inner edges of the end rails and inwardly beyond the end uprights.

5. An article of furniture ol the class de scribed, formed in a single piece from sheet material, comprising a body portion having side and end rails integrally eminected :it their ends, crossebars connecting the side rails intermediate their ends, end supports extending downward Vtroni the outer edges of the end rails` end uprights extending upward from the inner edges et the end rails, and spurs projecting inwardly from the inner edges of the end rails and inwardly beyond the end UprightS, and {ianges eoextensive with the lengths of the side nils and extending upward from their outer edges.
