IMPROVEMENT IN PRUNING INSTRUMENTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 143,064, dated September 23, 1873 application filed May 10, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. COLLINGS, of Raytown, in the county of Jackson and State of Missouri, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Pruning Instrument; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, in which- The drawing represents the upper part of the instrument, consisting of a hook and saw.
The invention consists in the combination of the hook and saw with the pole, the rod, and the two sockets, as hereinafter fully described.
A represents a .pole of any desired length, made hollow to receive a wire or small metallic rod, B, which passes through it longitudinally. Upon the upper end of the rod B is cut a thread to screw into the shank of the saw, which projects above the end of the pole A, and fits into a dovetailed groove or socket in the side of a ferrule, F, attached to the upper part of the pole A. In the groove or socket it is secured by a set-screw, G. By
