FISHING-ROD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 270,460, dated January 9, 1883,

The object ofthis invention is to obtain annifortn strain and spring in fishing-rods throughout their entire length.
A represents the butt of a fishing-rod, B is the grip, and C is the rod. The grip B forms apart of the butt A, and the rod 0 passes in through the upper end of the butt A, and has i a screw-hole in its end, or in a cap or ferrule i attached to its end, to screw upon a screw, D, secured to the butt-cap E. The interior of the butt A is made so much'larger than the rod- G that the said rod will be free to bend from end to end, so that the strain and spring of the rod will be uniform throughout itsentire length, the rod U coming in contact with-the butt A only at its ends. The aperture through 'the forward end of the butt A is made to fit the rod (J, so as to hold the said rod steady.
Having thusdescrihed myinventioml claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The combination of the cap E,. having a central screw on the inside, a hollow handle, B, having acentral hole in the butt, and the fishing-rod G, having, an end open tubular cap Working, on said screw, as shown and described.
