UNION GARMENT.
Appltcati dn filed September 30, 1920. Serial No. 413,768.
' T 0 all 1.0 ham it may concern:
Be it known that I, \VILLIAM S.'SKELTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Evansville, in the county of Vanderburgh and. State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Union Garments; and 1 do hereby declare the followingvto be a full, clear, and-exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. v
This invention relates to bertain hew and useful improvements in union garments and has for its primary object" the provision of a garment of the character stated which will be composed of the minimum number 0' pieces of material and in which the flap may be readily secured in its closed position within the depending end of the body back of the garment by means of a strap-passed through loops to hold the upper edge of the seat flap while the vertical edges thereof are connected at the side of the garment by buttons on side flap members- The invention has for another object the provision of a garment of the character stated in which the front may be formed of: a single piece slit vvertically and secured together by a vertical front row of buttons or other securing devices, While the belt is formed of a lower section comprising the rear halves oi the legs of the garment and the seat ilap, which latter is received beneath the depending end of the upper back section. forming the back of the'body of the garment and having openings in its lower portion to receive strap carrying loops formed on the outer face of the flap so that a belt may be passed througli the belt loop to hold the flap in closed position and retain the lower end of the back of the body of the garment in proper position over the upper edge or" the flap, means being provided for closing the vertical edges of the scat flaps at the sides of the garment "forming the hip portion thereof.
he invention has for a further object the provision or a garment of the character stated in which the garment will be constructed in such-a manner as to make it appear that the same formed as a one piece garment and constructed oi thenummum amount of material as well' as the minimum mimber-ot pieces or sections.
"With the foregoing and other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists inthe novel con st'ruction, combination and arrangement of cooperating elements as hereinafter more specifically described, claimed and shown in the drawings forming a part of the present,
application, and in which: I
Figure l. is a front elevation of the garment.
Figure 2 is a side elevation thereof.
Figure 3 is a transverse horizontal section through the waist portion of the garment, as shown on line of Figure 2. I
Figure 4 is a detail vertical section on the plane of line l4: of Figure 2.
Referring more in detail to the drawings in which similar referencecharacters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, 1 indicates the front of the garment which is composed of a single section of material and which includes the front of the legs of the garment as well as the entire body thereof, the bodyibeing slit or separated vertically along the center, whereby the garment may be readily placed on the wearer or removed. The overlapping inner edges of the front of the garment forming closure flaps 2 which are secured together by the buttons 3 carried b one flap and extending through buttonho es on the opposite remaining flap, or by any other\ suitable securing means.
The back of the garment is composedot a tion 10 of the rear side of the garment and which upper section forms the back of the body of the garment. A belt 11 is extended around the waist portion of the garment, initwardly ot' the depending end of the section 10 forming the back of the body of the garment and through the belt loops 8 of the scat flap 6 when the latter is closed, shown in the drawings, thereby retaining the flap e in its closed position and preventing the lower edge of the rear body memljier 1.0 from moving out of proper position over the seat flap and leaving exposed the upper edge of ice the seat flap 6. The vertical orside edges 12 of the seat flap 6 are adapt-ed to have removable engagement and detachable engagement with the side securlng flap portions 13 of the 111p portion of the front section 1 of the garment, as shown in Figure l of the drawings. Buttons and buttonholes may be employed for this connection, shown at 1%, it de sired.
The garment may be provided with sleeves 15 secured to the front section 1 and rear upper section 10, as shown at 16 in Figure it of the drawings and a collar 17 n'nty also be provided for the garment, if desired.
From the foregoing peragra ihs taken in. connection with the accompanying drawin itwill be seen that 1 have provided a simple for m of garment which may be readily construeted from the minimum amount of nun teriel and composed of the inininiuni number of Sections. Furtherinore the flap section Will be protected when in closed posit-ion and et may be readily released after removing the belt 11.
l/Villlfl the preferred en'ibodiment oi the in from thosection to take up the slack at the waist ot the garment and insertible through said loop means exteriorly of the upper sec tion to support the trousers and close the seat sertion.
in testimony whereof I eliix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
