To all whom t may concern Be it known that Louis W. BERGMAN, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, has yinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Loose-Leaf Binders, of which the'following is a specification.

The present invention relates toloose leaf binders for use with perforatedsheets or leaves. t

The object of this invention is to provide rious distances can be bound together.

With this and other objects in view my invention consists of a socket adapted to be permanently fixedtothef cover or folder of a loose leaf book suchn as a ledger or the like, and individual leaf holders removably and adjustably borne in said socket so that the number of individual holders in the socket may be regulated according to the number of perforations in the sheets used and the holders may be adjusted relative to one another according to the particular spacing of the perforations in the sheets.

Referring to the drawing, the binder coinprises a socket 10 preferably made of a strip of metal which is bent .upon itself at its longitudinal Vedges to form opposite longitudinal grooves 10. 11 kdenotes individual members or holders which are adapted to be adjustably and removably borne in `the socket4 .10, so that the number and spacing thereof may be easily regulated to conform with those ofthe perforations in the sheets used. In thepresent embodiment 'ofmy invention the members 11 each consist of a base portion 11 made to fit snugly in the grooves 10 vof the socket 10, anda hook shaped portion 112 projecting upwardly from Athe base. The socket 10 is adapted to be permanently fixed to the inner face of a folder or cover of a loose leaf book.

In'the present example I have shown a loose leaf book consisting of two separable covers 12, 13 which near the rear ends have foldable sections 12', 13.

The socket 10 is adapted to be fixed longitudinally ofand adjacent to the rear edge of the foldable section 13 ofthe lower cover and the removable upper cover is provided with means for engaging the free ends of the hook shaped projections 112 so as to prevent the sheets from slipping ofi' the individual binding members 11.

For the engagement of the free ends of the hooks 11 and for the connection of the two covers the following construction is employed The body portion of the socket 10 is extended longitudinally at one of its ends as at 103 and is formed with a vertical and a horizontal bend. The horizontal bend is directed inwardly or toward the socket and constitutes a tongue 104. On the inner face of the foldable section 12" of the upper cover, a longitudinal groove or slot 122 is provided which when thev cover is applied is adapted to engage the perpendicularly bent ends 113 of the hooks, thereby preventing the sheets engaged by theV individual binders 11 from slipping off.
