N0. 142,777. Patented Septemberl6,l873.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE EOKEL, OF RICHMOND, INDIANA.
IMPROVEMENT IN STOVE-PIPE HOLDERS.
Speciication forming part of Letters Patent No.1112,777, dated September 1G, 1873; application filed February 8, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE EcKEL, of Richmond, Indiana, have :invented cert-ain Improvements in Stove-Pipe Holders, of which the following is a specication:
My invention consists in an improvement in stove-pipes, Sto., my device 'being an attachment to the end of the stove-pipe to hold itin place where it enters the chimney-Hue. The attachment prevents the stove-pipe entering the iue too far, so as to hinder the draft, and also insures greater security against accidents by fire by preventing the stove-pipe from coming out of its place.
The following is an exact description of my invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
Figure l shows a section of stove-pipe with my attachment or device affixed. A, section of stove-pipe; B, slot in stove-pipe. C a serrated rotary bar. D a projection on the'inner end of the bar O to press against the inside wall of chimney-flue. E is a movable projection or thimble-brace on the bar C, with a thumb-screw, F, to fasten it at will on the bar O, so as to adjust it to any thickness of wall that may be included between the projection D and the projection or thimble-brace E when set and fastened by the thumb-screw F.
Fig. 2 shows the same device with the attachment wings or ears G Gr, G G, G G, to allow it to be riveted or fastened ou the stovepipe A. H H shows the device to allow the bar O to rotate to the inside of the stove-pipe when taking the stove-pipe out of or putting it in the nue.
Fig. 3 shows the same device for the same above-named purpose, except that the projection or thimble-brace E can be adjusted on the bar C by means ofthe springI acting in the serrated part of the bar O instead of the thumb or set screw F, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2; or, both devices-viz., the thumb-screw F and the spring I-may both be used at the same time, substantially and for the purpose above named.
What I claim as my invention is- The combination of the rotary serrated bar C with the projections D and E, with the set thumb-screw F, and also the combination of they spring I with the serrated bar C, for the purposes, and in the manner and form substantially as above set forth and described.
GEORGE EGKEL.
