IMPROVEMENT IN BLlND-SLAT FASTENERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 142,674, dated September 9,1873; application filed August 16, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE W. BROOKS, of Bloomington, in the county of McLean and in the State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Blind-Slat Fastener and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists of a connecting-rod, a slide within a casing, which is slotted, and a pivoted cam-lever, all connected to the frame of a Window-blind provided with pivoted slats, and constructed and operating as more fully hereinafter described,
to hold the slats at any desired angle.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which represents a perspective view of a window-blind with my invention attached thereto.
A represents the frame of a window-blind. B B are the pivoted slats therein; and G is the rod connecting the slats, all constructed and arranged in any of the known and usual ways. The connecting-rod G is, by a bar or rod, a, connected with a slide, D, which moves in a vbox, E, attached to the frame A 011 the inner side of the blind below the slats. Inone side of this box is a slot, 1), into which works a cam-lever, G, said lever being pivoted to a flange on the box. By pressing down on the lever G the cam enters the slot b, and presses against the slide D, holding the same firmly in Whatever position it may have been placed. By this means the slats may be firmly held at any angle desired, and cannot be moved from the outside.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The combination, with the pivoted blindslats B B and their connecting-rod O, of the rod a, slide D, and cam-lever G, pivoted as shown, and Working upon the slide through-a slot in the casing E, constructed and arranged to operate substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
