T aZZ whom it may; concern Be it known that I, FREDERICK HACK- MANN, a citizen of the United States, and resident of the city of St. Louis and State of Missouri, have invented certain. new and useful Improvements in Sales-Book Covers, of which the following is a specification containing a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof.

My invention relates to improvements in sales book covers, and has for its primary object a book cover made from sheet metal to insure its durability, and it is light and inexpensive.

Referring to the drawings:

lets are formed by turning over the metal to receive the hinge pins 18 and 22, and by means of the hinge pin 18 the sections 10 and strip 19 are pivotally secured together.

The section 29 is provided with a series of projections 23, from which eyelets are formed to receive the hinge pin 22. The section 20 is also provided with an integral strip 24, which is connected with the body of the section by some of the strips remaining when the projections 23 are punched out so as to be turned at right angles to the section 20, and when so bent a fastening strip 25 has one end bent around and secured by means of solder, or otherwise, to the end portion 26, the other end of said fastening strip 25 being left unattached and adapted to be sprung under the hook 27 formed on the strip 24%. By means of this strip the sales book record 28 may be attached to and removed from the section 20.

29 indicates the third or remaining section of the cover, the inside View of which is illustrated in Fig. 1, and the back view when stamped for formation in Fig. 6, and as completed, the rear thereof shown in Fig. 2.

Section 29 is provided with an upper end 30 having projections 31, which section 30 is adapted to be bent at right angles to the section 29 and the projections 31 being formed into eyes by bending the metal, and it is further provided along one margin with the projections 32 from which eyes are formed.

The section 20 is likewise provided on one of its margins with a series of projections 33, from which eyes are formed. The section 20 is secured to the sec ion 29 by means of a strip 34:, which is constructed exactly like strip 19 but is narrower, and by means of hinge pins 35 and 36 the sections 20 and 29 are pivotally connected together.

The section 20 is provided with a reinforcing bead 37 similar to the bead formed on section 10, these beads being formed for the purpose of strengthening the sections 10 and 20. The section 29 is made out of slightly thicker material than either of the sections 10 or 20, for the reason that it must carry in operation the sales slip books and also carries the clamp by means of which the sales slip book is held in place.

The section 29 is provided near its upper end with teeth 38, and hinged to the projections 31 is a clampin member 39. This clamping member is termed with projections 40, from which eyes are formed by bending over the ends of these projections, and the clamping member 39 is secured to the section 29 by means of a hinge pin i1 which is surrounded for a portion of its length by coil springs ll which cause the clamp 39 to be pressed downward toward the section 29 and grip the sales book. The clamp 39 is manipulated by'means of a thumb-piece 42. It will be observed that the section 29 is provided with the right angular flange 43, on which the lower edge of the sales slips rest, and this also answers as a thumb-piece for opening and closing I the section 29.

It will be observed from the foregoing that my completed'cover comprises butfew parts, stamped from metal, and having the three cover sections pivotally secured together, which are provided with the necessary attachments for holding in place the usual sales record book, sales slips, and the cards which indicate the amount of each sale. As far as I am aware, it has been the usual practice to make these book covers out of cardboard or leather, and the attachments for holding the various books in place were riveted to the back, and such constructions have proven unsatisfactory, for the reason that the backs soon become cracked andworn out where they are hinged together, and the attachments for holding the books break loose and the cover is rendered useless.

Having fully described my invention, What I claim is:

1. A salesbook cover, comprising three metal sections hinged together, integral flanges formed on one section for securing in place a card for indicating each sale, a clamping means secured to one of the sections by means or" which the sales record may be secured in place and removed, and the remaining section being provided with a spring clamping member for holding the sales slips in place. I

2. A cover for a sales book and the like, composed of three sections hingedly connected together by means of metal strips, one of said strips being wider than the other strip, integral flanges formed on one of the sections for holding in place a card which indicates the sales, one of the sections being provided with an integral strip provided with a hook and a clamping strip secured thereto for holding and releasing the sales record, and the remaining section being provided with teeth and an integral flange, and a spring clamping member pivotally secured to said flange and cooperating with said teeth for securing and releasing the sales slips.

3.
