SIEGFIBIED HENIZY/fAl/FMANN. PER. 7
SIEGFRIED HENRY KAUFMANN, OF LONDON, ENGLAND.
MANICURE OASE.
. Specification of Letters Patent. P31 1 d A 1 1922 Application fi1ed. October 19, 1921. Serial 1\T0. 508,828.
AccOrcling to this invention, I en1ploj1 base upon whioh is m01mted a hollow pedestal, 0n which the various artioles of a set of nianicure instrmenc3 01 the like are mountecl. This hollow petlstal is preferably of substantially D-shape and is provid'ed with a vertioal slot running substantially from top to bottom 01 be curved side and down the centre thereof. This slot serves f01. the reception of the handle of a nail polisher 01 brush, the handle of whioh is mounted upon the back thereof and engages in this slot, whilst the polisher o1 brush is 10'- cated within the interior of the hollow pedestal.
- Around the ekcerior of the ourved portion of the hollow pedestal, are provided a series of loops in which Various instruments Such as a nail file, soraper knife, o1 knives may loe inserted, so as to retain-them in an ujpright position upon the exterior of the pedest-al. Upon the opposite sicle 013 the -shaped pedestal is provid ed a retaining loop 01 slot for the reception of a pair of nail soissors, and a f urther loop is also provided in whioh may lo i mounted a tnbe of polishing paste or the li e.
An outer coverof suitable shape is adapted to be placed over the holloW perlestal and .the instruments mountecl thereon, ancl' this cover engages at its lower end with the base of the pedestal, upon whioh it 1nay be a tight fit, 01 may loe otherwise seeured. In the upper encl of this cover maybe provided a box having a cletachalole lid or oover seoured at one edge by a tape or other suitable hinge. This box may be employed for the reception oi face powder anal puff or othen suitalole material, and may have a mirror fixed in the lid. y
The oase may be made of any suitable shape being either cylind rioal triangular square, orother suitable shape, the npright coVel being mounted upon a sitnilarly shaped base. The base is so arrangecl that the ped@stal with tl1e instruments thereon will reaclily stand in an upright position ancl 'when the cover is removed, these instru'- n 1ents Will be supported in an upright posit1o n and readily acoessible 101 use es requ1red, it only being neoesszuy to lift each 1nstrumen out of its retaining loop 01' to remo've the polisher 01 brush from the interior of the hollow peclestal by sliding its handle upwardly along the slot so. as to disengage. it therefrom.
In order that my invention rnay be more read1ly underst0od, reference is made to the aecompanjzing clrawings in whitzhz Fignre 1 is a part sectional elevation of a Gase lfor sets of manioure and like instrun1ents according to n 1y invention, having the ooven partly b1'0keh away so as to Sl1OW the notenor.
Figure 2 is an elevation of the inner porh1on of the c ase with the cover removed 100k- 1ng upon the sa1ne frona the opposite side to Figure l.
Flgure 8is a planof Flaute 2, and
F;gure 4 shows a modification, in which a powder box and pufl is provided in the top of the outer cover.
Referrin q to the dr2iwings, the base l is provicled with a oylindrieal portion 2 over whioh the lower ends 3 of the tubular or other shapecl oover 4fits so as t0 enolose Ehe 1nstruments mounted upon thehollow pillar 5. This hollow pillar 5 is seoured upon the cyllndrical portion 2 of ehe hase 1 so as to stand in an t1pright position on its upper surface.
A fiat p0ltion 6 is provided on one side of the hollow pillar 5 for the reoeption -ol:' the nail scissors 7 and upon the opposite side of the pillar is. provided a vertioa'l slot 8 111 Which engages the handle 9 01 the nail polisher 10, the polisher itsell lying Wibhin the interior 01'" the hollow pillar 5 ancladapted to beremoved by sliding oho handle 9upwarclly along the slot 8 so as to withclr'aw' 2 of the hase it Will be firmly hold in 'posi tion and Will enclose the whole 0f the instru1nent.
In a modification illnstrated in Fignre -1 a small compartment 15 may loe provided in "the upper and of the cover 4 f0r ehe purpose of holding face powder 01 the l'1ke, and a suitable powder puff 16 may 100 provided in this compartment. A cylindrical Lid 17 is m0unted upon any suitable tape 01- other hinge at one side and '1s adapted to fit over the top of the compartment 15 so as to enclose the san1e. A small mirror 18 may be pr0vided in tl1e top of this lid.
While I have shown the case as being 0'f a cylindrical shape it may be conveniently constrncted in other forms, suoh as square, 'criangular, oval o1 the like, withont departing from the natura of the invention t-he outer cover and the upper ortion 01 the base loe1ng made of the required shape to conform with each other.
I claim.

In a 1nanioure oase, a base, an upright hollow pillar mo11nted 0n this base, a vertical slot in one side of the hollow pillar to support a nail polisher in its interior, a series of loops around its exterior for tho reception ofvarious instruments and a oove1- adapted 130 fit over and enclose the whole and to engage the base so as to be hold in position.
2. In a manicure case, a base, an upright hollow pillar mounted 011 this base, means for-supporting instrnments in the interior and around the outside of the hollow pilla1r, a flat side t0 the npright pillar upon Whi0h the scissors are mounted, and a cover adapted to fit over and enclose the whole and to ongage the base so as to loe hold in position.
