APPLICATION FILED APR HOISTING APPARATUS.
Patented July 18, 1922;

PATENT OFFICE.
LAWRENCE T. TUCKER, OF POLLOCK, MISSOURI.
HOISTING APPARATUS.
Application filed April 20, 1921.
To all whom may concern:
Be it known that I, Lawnnnon T. TUCKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pollock, in the county of Sullivan and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hoisting Apparatus. of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to a hoisting apparatus and the object of the invention is the construction. of a comparatively simple and eflicient apparatus, involving an efficient frame for lifting or hoisting a load of any kind.
Another object of the invention is the construction of a peculiar frame of a hoisting apparatus which. is very strong and durable, yet. relatively simple in construction.
With these and other objects in view, my invention. comprises certain novel combinations, constructions and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and more particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 a perspective view of an. apparatus constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 is a rear view of the apparatus.
Referring to the drawings by numerals, l.-1 are the horizontal base beams arranged in a Vshaped form, and the front ends of the beams 1 are notched, on. their under face, at 2, and in these notches is placed a horizontal front cross piece 3, which cross piece is secured to the beams 1. Rollers or casters 4; are attached to the under face of the cross piece 3. At the rear end of the beams 1 is secured a rear cross piece 5, and to the under face of said cross piece 5 is secured a pair of rollers or casters 6. These casters 4- and 6 support the apparatus upon the ground or floor and facilitate the moving of the same, at the will of the operator. Rear, parallel stands 7 are secured, at 8, to the rear ends of beams 1, and near the center of beams 1 and fastened at 9, are attached inclined, front standards 10. A horizontal, top beam 11 is secured between the rear Specification of Letters Patent.

standards '7 and the front standards 10. Behind the front standards 10, and fastened to the top of the beams 1, is a small cross piece 12; the cross piece bears against the rear edges of the front standards 10. A. block 13 is secured between. the rear standards 7, against the lower edge of top beam 11; an inclined brace 14 is fastened at its lower end to the top of cross piece 12, and bears, at its upper end, against the lower face of top beam 11 and against the front face of block 18, efficiently bracing and strengthening the entire frame-structure.
A pulley device 15 is fastened to the front end of beam 11 and another pulley device 16 is fastened to its rear end. A drum 17 is attached to the rear of the standards 7. A shaft 18 is geared to the drum 17 and by means of handle 19, the shaft and drum can be rotated for winding the hoisting cable 20 on the drum 1'? or unwinding the same at the will of the operator. The cable 20 is threaded through the pulley devices 15 and 16, and the outer end of the cable is pro vided with a hook 21 for attaching the hoisting cable to the object or load to be lifted, or lowered.
It is to be understood that my hoisting apparatus can be easily conveyed over the floor or surface to the object or load to be handled and then, by the simple manipulation of the hoisting means, the load can be lifted, or lowered, as desired.
While I have described. the preferred embodiment of my invention, and have illustrated the same in the accompanying drawings, certain minor changes or alterations may appear to one skilled in the art to which this invention relates, and I, therefore, reserve the right to make such alterations or changes as shall fairly fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is:
In. a hoisting apparatus, the combination of a pair of horizontal base beams, a pair of spaced, parallel, rear standards secured to said base beams, a pair of inclined front standards secured to said base beams near their center, a horizontal top beam secured between the upper ends of all of said standards, a block secured against the under face of said top beam and between said rear standards, a horizontal cross piece secured to the top of: said base beams againstthe, rear edges of the front standards, an inclined brace secured at its lower end upon the top 01? said cross piece andsecured against the under face of the top beamin engagement with the front face of said block, and hoisting means carried by the rearstandards and 10 by the top beam, substantially as shown and described. I v
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature. v
LAYVRENCE T. TUCKER.
