Be it lrnown that l. ARTHUR E. Born, a citizen of the United States, and a. resident of the city of New York, borough of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Combination Face Brush, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to improvements in combii'iation lace brushes, an object oi the invention being to provide a device which provides all the apparatus necessary for the care of the face before and after shaving.

A. further object is to provide a device of the character described which embodies a shaving brush, a device, a shaving stick, a container "for talcum powder and the like, a container for massage cream and the like, devices for applying the powder and the cream, covers for said receptacles, and all of said parts embodied in a single member which is separable to permit the proper Functioning of the elements thereof,

A further object is to provide a device of the character stated, which will be neat and attractive in appearance, which will be sanitary in use and which will occupy but rela tively small space, but may be conveniently stored or carried in the travelling bag of the user.

\Vith these and other objects-in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and combinations and arrangements of parts, as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a view in longitudinal section illustrating my improved combination :tace brush.

Figure 2 is a view in side elevation thereof.

Figure 3 is a view in transverse section on the line 3-3 of Figure 1.

My improved combination face brush comprises four separable members 1, 2, 3 and 4-. All of these members 1, 2, 3 and 4: are of the same external diameter and cylindrical in form, and having interlocking separable engagement which will be more fully hereinafter described, to form a single continuous cylindrical body, which may be of rubber, metal, or any other suitable material.

The member 3 constitutes a brush body having secured thereto at one side the semblage of bristles constituting a brush 5, and on its other side having secured or in tegrally tor-med a plurality of flexible tabs or fingers 6 constituting a massage device.

The brush body 3 is, at one side, recessed and internally screw threaded, as shown at 7, for the reception of the screw threaded end of the member 2, the latter constituting a handle for the brush 5. This member or handle 2 is divided by a partition 8 into two compartments, the smaller compartment 9 at one end enclosing the massage device 6, and the larger compartment, which is at the other end of the handle, constituting an enclosure :for a stick of shaving soap 11.

The member 1 constitutes a receptacle for talcum or other powder 12 and is formed at one end with a screw threaded ring 13 having screw threaded engagement as shown at 14, with the outer end ot the handle 2. This ring 13 is internally screw :threaded, as shown at 15, into which the threaded end of the shaving stick 1.1 is screwed and held, so that it is removable with the member 1. A closure 16 is screwed on to the threaded outer end of the member 1, as shown at 17, so to form a closure for the member 1, and powder pufi? 1.8 is fixed to the closure 16 and removable therewith.

The member 4 is divided by a partition 19 and one end of said member 4 constitutes a cover or enclosure for the brush 5 and has screw threaded engagement with the member 3, as shown at 20. This member 4 is formed with a circular series of slots or openings 21 to admit a circulation of air in contact with the brush to permit the lat ter to dry and prevent mold. The extreme end of the member 4 constitutes a receptacle for massage paste 22 and a closure 23 is screwed on to the end of the massage cream receptacle, as shown at 24, and carries a sponge or other device 25 to apply the message cream to the face.

The outer surfaces of the members are provided with milled or roughened portions 26 to facilitate their turning movement and both closures 16 and 23 have also milled surfaces for a like purpose.

The operation of my improved device is as follows:

It will. be noted that when the cover 4 is removed, the members 1 and 2 will constitute a handle for the brush. 5 and permit the latter to be employed as any ordinary shaving brush is employed, When it is de- 7 and when the talcum powder 12 or the massage cream 22 is to be used, their respective closures 16 and 23 are removed and the contents applied by means of the powder puff 18 or the spon e 25, as will be readily understood.

It will thus be seen that in a single device I embody all of the essential devices or ele ments which are desirable in use in connection with the treatment of the face in shav ing, and provide such devices in a small compact, neat appearing and attractive device. [v

Furthermore, such device readily appeals to the user because it will result in economy of space, particularly to a travelling man, hocan carry with him in a single device a multiplicity of toilet accessories which can be stored in a small space in his travelling arious slight changes might be made in the general t'ormand arrangement of the parts described without departing from the invention, and hence I do not limit myself to the precise details set forth, but consider myself at liberty tomake such changes and in the casing mounted on the cover.

I claim:

1. As a new article of manufacture, a combination tt'ace brush comprising a body having a brush at one side and massage devices at the other side, covers having screw threaded engagement with the body and covering the brush and the massage device re spectively, one 01" said covers having a receptacle atone end, a member having screw threaded engagement with the other of said covers and adapted to support a shaving stick, said last-mentioned member also constituting a receptacle, removable closures for said receptacles, a powder puff secured to one of said covers, and a sponge to the other of said closures.

2. As a new article of manufacture, a combination face brush comprising a cylindrical body having a brush attached to one end and a massage device to the other end, covers for mounting on the body to enclose the brush and the massage device, respectively, one of said covers having a receptacle provided in one end, a closure having a powder puff attached thereto provided to close said receptacle, a casing having a chamber formed therein atttached to the other of said covers, means attached to the lower end of said casing for supporting any solid that may be connected to the same, and
