Application led March 12,1921. `teral No, 451,723.
fl 1o all @c hom t may concern:
Be it known that l, flat/ins l?. lloorinr, va citizen of' the United States, residing` at De troit, in the county of iVayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new land useful Improvements in Ticket Holders, of which the following a specication.
This invention relates to ticket holders, the primary obj ect of which is to provide a receptacle or holder which is especially adapted for carrying a plurality oi tickets, such for instance, as street car tickets, etc., the device being of such a character as to position one of the ticketsat all times so that it may be conveniently grasped bythe user.
Another object oi the invention is to provide a simplilied structure which may be carried in the vest pocket, purse, or the like and which will permit a ticket, or series o 'tickets to be easily and expeditiously removed therefrom.
'llhe above and other objects of this in vention will be in part described and in part understood from the following description ott the present preferred embodiment of the invention taken in connection with the aocompanying drawings, wherein:
Fig. l, is a top plan view of the device constructed in accordance with this invention, the closure thereof being shown in open position.
Fig. 2, is a longitudinal sectional view' taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. l, looking in the direction ofthe arrow.
Fig. 3, is a transverse sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. l, looking in the direction of the arrow, and
Fig. 41;, is a perspective view of the device showing the closure in a secured position.
The device of this invention. consists of body 5, `made of wood or any other suitablematerial, and preferably of an oblong con figuration. rlhe body has a longitudinally extending recess Gformed therein which en" tends through the longitudinal center of the body and opens through one end ot the lat-- ter. Both ends ot the body are preferably rounded, as indicated at 7, to permit con venient insertion and removal of the same in and from the pocket or pocket-book of the user, and to prevent undue bulging of the pocket or the like wherein the device may be inserted.
A plurality of spring fingers 8 are mounted in said body 5, each of said ngers'consisting of a metal strap, one end of which is engaged in the wall of the recess 6. The opposite end of each linger projects through a semi-circular recess 9, also formed in the wall of said recess, the 'free terminal of each linger projecting into the recess in close proximity to the top of the body As shown to advantage in Fig. 3 the tickets are arranged in said recess 6 beneath the lingers 8 and are held from displacement by the latter. As a rule, the tickets are secured along their longitudinal edges and it is preferred to permit the free edge of the uppermost ticket to project upwardly so as to be conveniently grasped. 'As soon as this ticket has been removed the next ticket will be caused to automatically assume the same position since in removing the uppermost ticket pressure can be exerted thereon so as to iler the fingers 8 on one side upwardly so to release the lateral margin of the next adiacent ticket. lt is of course understood that the fingers 8 are very small and consequently are highly `flexible and highly resilient.
Preferably, a casing il() oit leather, or any other suitable material, is mounted upon the body 5 and has one end thereof extend1 ed to form a closure 11. rllhe closure 11 is equipped with a socket 12 which complements a stud 18, the latter being mounted upon the upper face of the casing 10 at the end of the recess 6. lt is of course understood that the casing l0 has a portion thereof removed to expose the semi-circular recesses 9 and recess 6.
In use of this device, it will no doubt be I apparent from the above that the tickets are folded and placed in the recess 6 beneath the lingers 8, pursuant to which the closure 1l is secured by engaging the socket l2 with the stud 13. When it is desired to remove one or more of the tickets, the closure is opened in an obvious manner and the tickets pulled upwardly in` a manner as above described. By providing the recesses 9, it will be apparent that ample space for the expansion and contraction ot said fingers,
caused by the insertion and removal respectively oi' the tickets from said recess, is provided.
Various changes may be made in this device especially in the details of construction, proportion and arrangement of parts without departing' from the spirit and scope of 2 Lei-11 tickets to hold the letter in a compressed po,
sitiona said fingers being flexible under pressure exerted upon the uppermost ticket to permit removal o'f one or more of seid tickets.
3. )i ticket holder including` :i body provided with n ticket receiving recess :md equipped with e plurality et resilient fingers to hold seid tickets compressed in seid re l cess. :1nd :i casing :n.runged on seid body und having one end thereo't extended to provide zi closure for engagement over said ticket recess.
n testimony whereof l nllix my in presence oi two Witnesses.
