" 'LAIDAM Ross, orwAu EGAu, ILLINOISL' GABMENTi- 1 1,414,155. I v v 7 application filed ivlay 7,
T0 aZZ whom it may mom.- I
Be it'known that I, ADAM Ross, a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania, (but who has heretofore applied for first papers to become a citizen of the United States,) residing at.
Waukegan, in the county of Lake and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garments, of which the following is a description.
My invention relates to improvements in garments, and more particularly to that type of garments known as overalls. One of the objects of my invention is to provide a bifurcated garment as above described, which may be worn on either side, that is, the gar- .ment is reversible. Another object of my invention is to provide such a reversible overall in which the fly portion may be fastened effectively when the garment is worn on either side. The invention has among its other objects the production of a garment of the kind described-which is simple,
convenient, durable, and satisfactory for use wherever found applicable. Many other obje'cts and advantages of the construction herein shown and described will be obvious" to those skilled in the closure herein given.
To this end my invention consists 1n the art from the disnovel construction, arrangement and combination of parts herein shown anddescribed, particularly pointed out in the;
and more claims.
In the drawings, wherein like reference characters indicate like or corresponding parts; I
Figure 1 is a plan view of my improved garment;
Figure 2 is a detail of the fly portion thereof, showing the overlying flaps of the fly separated; and
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken substantially on the line 3 3 of Figure 1.
' In the drawings wherein I have illustrated a preferred embodiment of my invention, 1 designates the leg or bifurcated portions of my garment, 2 the body portion thereof- 3 thebib and 4 the straps or suspenders for the same. These parts may be of any suitable or preferred form and material. Pockets 5 may be aflixed to the garment on either or both sides of the material, in any desired location and of any preferred shape.
At the upper end of the legportionsl, I
' sea t w Specification of magma. t ht f 2 have provided a ffiy 6', said fly'beingpr'efer ably stitched down, as shown at 7, for a portion of its length. The flaps 8 and 9 ofthe fly are adapted to overlie one another,
as shown in Figure '1, the material of each 'will overlie the flap 9, 'thebuttons and but tonholes l2 and114loooperating to hold the,
flap closed in one adjustment of the garment, 7 and the flap 9 will overlie the flap 8 so that the button and buttonholes 11' and 13 may coo-perate'to close the fly whe'n the garment is reversed. In either of the reversals of the garment, the fastening means at the" i inner of the free edges of the fiaps 8 o'r9, asf 3 the case may be, are permitted tobe free of lnterengagement' Asshown in Figure 2, the eyelets, or butto nholes 11 and 1-2 may be as a blind if so, desired.
Havingthus described my invention it is tions may be made inthe same without departing from the spirit of myxinvention;
reenforced by a strip 15, this stripserving obvious that various immaterial modificahence I do not'wish to be understood as 7 limiting myself to the exact form, arrange ment, construction and combination of parts herein shown tioned.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
ed to be turned inside out and worn on either 1. A reversible bifurcated garment adaptand described, or uses'menside,said garment having leg and body portions and. a fiy therebetween extending up-- j M 1-00 a point thereabove on the front side only wardly from the crotch and terminating at of the garment, said fly comprising overindependent fastening means for fastening said flaps in eitherof the two positions, one. of said pairs of means being adaptedto be used and one of said pairs being out of 'use,--'
alternately for each reversal of the garment.
lapped portions and a plurality of pairs of 2; A l eyersible bifurcated garment of the" kind described having leg and body portions,
and, an overlapped fly thereloetween fastening means adjacent 't'hefree edge and also inwardly thereof on eaeh of the flaps of 7 said fly, the second mentioned means 011' one fiapbeing adapted to be free of interengagement with theKcooperating means on the other flap 1n one position of Wear, and the second mentioned fastening means of the other flap being adapted to be free of inter- I i V 1,414,155
engagement with the adjacent cooperating means on the other flap when the garment lsreversed. Y
In testimony whereof, I, have hereunto 15
