It willr `be seen that the apparatus may be readilyfereeted ina grain ear of 'the ardie-` .spoolsQS for-bearing contact withthe surnary construction as now used, and will serve as an efficient means for securing the door therein against displacement either outwardly or inwardly or longitudinally of the car and hence will guard against the wastage incident to the loosening of the doors ofA grain cars while in transit, and at the same time it will. be seen that the attachment may be applied to a car at a moderate cost and may be used successively upon different cars "if desired, the removal thereof not involving any mutilation of the car or such a damage thereto as will render the same unfit for further use. f
Having thus described the invention, what 'l claim is l. A door fastener for grain carshaving agrain post carrying means for engaging grain door sections or members and adapted kfor arrangement in parallelism with a car door, posta foot'block provided at its outer end with av notch for receiving the'lower end of the'car door post, a foot plate carried by the foot block and having a flanged opening for the reception of the car door post and a seat for the lower end of the grain post, and means for securing the lower end of the grain post in said seat and for threaded in said post and providedrat their'A outer extremities in the interval between the grain post and the car door post with swiveled spools having biting edges for engagement with the surfaces of the grain oor sections or members,
3. A door fastener for grain cars comprising a foot plate .secured to the floor of the car and extending inwardly from the door post thereof, and provided at a distance inwardly of said post with a seat, a grain post having its lower end positioned in said seat, meansto secure the upper end of said grain post to said door post, and door engaging means carried by said grain post, said means comprising a series of independently adjustable clamps.
4i. A door fastener for grain cars having a grain post for arrangement in parallelism with the car door post, a foot plate for en gagement with the grain and car door posts, whereby their lower extremitiesare held in spaced relation, the grain post having its upper end bent to engage the-inner face of the car door post and being provided with a slot, securing means passing through said slot and engaging said door post, and clamping means carried by the grain post for engagement with the door for holding against accidental displacement. Y
5. A door fastener for grain cars including a door post, a grain post arrangedy in lparallel relation thereto, a foot plate having seats for the reception of the lower ends ofv said? posts, means for securing the upper Y ends of the posts together, and door clamps carried by the grain posts. A
6. A- door fastener for grain cars including a door post, a grain post arranged in parallel relation thereto7 afoot plate having seats for the reception of the lower ends of said posts, means securing said plate Sto the floor of the car, means securing the upper ends of the door kposts together, and door clamps carried'bythe grain posts.
