IMPROVEMENT IN SMOKING-TUBES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 140,360, dated J uly 1, 1873; application filed March 28, 1873.
.smoking-tube C is attached, which said tube C is lled with the tobacco to be smoked. The plugA is provided with a ring, n, of cork or other elastic substance, in the usual manner, to prevent the breaking of the mouthpiece, and upon this elastic ring n, a tube or casing, D, is placed, inclosingthe smoking-tube y C. This casing D has only a small opening, 11, on its forward end, and several small holes,
s, nea-r the after end, to admit the required amount of air to the inner side and to the smoking-tube.
The tobacco filled into the smoking-tube C is first lighted, after which the tube or casin g D is placed over the same, whereby al1 ashes resulting from the smoked tobacco will be prevented from falling out.
Instead of the smoking-tube C a cigarmay be placed in the recess or cavity a in the plug A, and then, when the same is lit, this case D placed over the same, so as to prevent thereby the burnt ashes from falling off.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination, with the mouth-piece B, of the plug` A, having chamber a and elastic ring n, smoking-tube C, and casing D, Iwith Ventilating-holes v and s s, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
