IMPROVEMENT IN BILL AND PAPER FILES.
Specification forming part ofLetters Patent No. 140,177, dated June 24,1873; application filed April 8, 1873.
To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, GEORGE T. WOLCOTT, of Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Bill and Paper Files and I do declare that the following is a true and accurate description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, and being a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is an exterior perspective View, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of one of the partitions and its spring removed from the box. Fig. 3 is a partial cross-section.
Like letters refer to like parts in each figure. This invention has for its object to provide arack, or case of racks, to receive a series of blank forms of shipping-bills, or other printed blanks, in such a manner that the first one of each kind will present itself for extractionf leaving the remainder undisturbed and held compactly together, so that dust cannot accumulate between the sheets. The invention consists in a case provided with longitudinal partitions inserted in vertical grooves, each partition being provided with a spring paperholder, arranged and operating as more fully hereinafter set forth.
In the drawing, A represents a case open at top and bottom, the inner faces of its ends having cut in them vertical grooves a, in each pair of which a partition, b, is inserted. To the rear side of the bottom edge of each partition is fastened a strip, 1), to which, in turn, are secured the lower ends of an archshaped wire-spring, (l, which extends above the top of the partitions, and presseslightly against the rear face of each partition near the top. The blank forms are placed between the springs and the partitions, resting upon the strips 1). The shipping-bills, as well as other blanks of that character, being uniform in size, and always having a title-line across the top edge, the latter can always be seen abovethe partition. In withdrawing the first blank from its receptacle the second is, by the friction of the first, slightly raised, so that thereafter a single blank will always present itself.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The described rack consisting of the case A, with ascending sides and open bottom partitions B, arranged in an ascending series, strips 1), and springs 0, combined and arranged as described, for the purpose set forth.
