ble, and the same can be reciprocated from the end 21, by further compressing the spring 11 to close the valve (3, depending upon the degree which is required in the carbureter.
Should the Wire 11, become permanently set, it will be merely necessary for an operator to straighten out the curve 23 of the end 22, detach the same from the lever C and expand the spring 11 to the degree necessary.
Th lever C is maintained in open position by means of the stop 30 abutting the post 31, rigidly mounted upon the carbureter A as in ordinary construction. The open position of the throttle valve is determined by the projection 32 and in such alinement that upon operation of the lever C, th said projection 32 will abut the post 31 to define the open position of the throttle (not shown).
From the foregoing, it can be seen that an accessory for use upon Ford carbureters has been provided, which will do away with the breakage and troublesome features new found in the spring found upon said carbureters. No, alteration will be necessary in the carbureter structure, the same can be easily attached thereto as hereinbefore described.
It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described, is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various changes in the shape, size and arrangement of parts may be made, Without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claims.
I claim:
1. In a throttle attachment for carbureters, the combination, with a carbureter includin a choker valve operating lever, of a brac st for detachable connection to said carbureter, and an expansion spring carried by said bracket and normally maintaining said lever to open the choker valve.
2. As an article of manufacture, a bracket structure including a piece of sheet metal provided with a pair of spaced arms, and a spring detachably connected to said arms.
3. In a throttle attachment for carbureters, the combination, with a carbureter including a choker valve operating lever, and an operating rod attached thereto, of a bracket detachably connected to said carbureter, and loosely receiving said operating rod, and an expansion spring disposed about said operating rod and engaging said operating lever and bracket to normally maintain said operating lever in forward position to hold the choker valve open.
a. In a throttle attachment for carbureters, the combination with a carburetor including a lever for operating the choke throttle valve thereof, an operating rod for said lever, and a flange having an attaching bolt thereon, of a bracket for detachably mounting upon said flange by said attaching bolt, said bracket having an aperture tnerein for operatively receiving said operating wire, and depending arms lying parallel with the main body of said bracket, and an expansion spring disposed about said operating rod and having a convolution thereof inserted intermediate said arms and main body portion of the bracket, said spring normally held under pressure intermediate said bracket structure and an end of said valve operating lever for maintaining said throttle lever in forward position for maintaining tl e throttle open.
5. As an article of manufacture, a bracket comprising a piece of sheet metal provided with a relatively large aperture in one end, ant a relatively small aperture in the other, said bracket having a pair of arms upon the end adjacent said small aperture and bent to lie parallel with the main portion of said bracket and upon each side of said relatively small aperture.
6. As a carbureter accessory, a bracket comprising a piece of sheet metal. provided with a relatively large aperture in one end, and a relatively small aperture in the other, said bracket having a pair of arms upon the end adjacent said small aperture and bent to ie parallel with the main portion of said i; *acket and upon each side of said relatively small aperture; and a spring mounted upon said bracket having a portion thereof dc tachably gripped intermediate said arms and said main body portion of the bracket. for securely connecting said spring to said bracket.
