Be it known that I, ELLEN F. QUINN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Corona, Long Island, in the county of Queens and State of New ed certain new and useful Improvements in Reversible Heels; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable tains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in heels for boots and shoes, more particularly to revolubleor adjustable heels.

The primary object is to provide a simple and practical means for easily attaching a heel to a boot or shoe.

Another object is to provide a heel, which, when attached to a shoe, may be easily adjusted without loosening screws or other similar fastening elements.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction and of the combination and arrangement of parts as will be more fully described and claimed.

I attain these objects by constructing the heel and fastening means, as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of the heel portion of a shoe having the removable heel connected therewith.

Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of the heel and fastener.

Fig, 3 is a bottom plan view of the improved heel, the fastener being indicated by dotted lines.

Similar reference numerals designate similar parts throughout the several views.

Reference is now had to the drawings in which is shown a shoe having the usual sole S, upon which is secured a heel bed plate 1. A circular revoluble heel 2 formed of leather, rubber or other suitable material is provided.

A fiat metal ring 4 is secured to the heel 2 by any suitable fasteners such as nails. The metal at the inner edge of the ring is offset upwardly to form a continuous flange 5, which is substantially *L-shaped in crosssection. The'heel is revolubly secured to York, have invent to the shoe or the bed plate 1, by providing a fiat metal disk 6 which is provided with a boss 8 fitting into the socket and internally threaded to receive the screw 9 which is inserted from within the shoe. The bed plate is grooved or channeled to receive the ring, so that said heel 2 and plate .1 will snugly contact one another. The forward edge'of the heel is protected by attaching to the shoe others skilled in the art to which it appera curved block 10 of leather or the like material as shown in Fig. 3. I

With heels of this character it isseen that after a portion of the edge has been worn, the heel may be revolved to position a new unworn edge in lace of the worn one. This operation may iie readily performed without loosening the screw or nails, as is ordinarily necessary.

From the foregoing description taken 1n connection with the accompanying drawing, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.

Various changes in the form, proportion and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of the claimed invention.

A reversible heel comprising a permanent heel portion having a socket cut from its lower face and having a recess in its lower face forming a seat positioned about and in spaced relation to the socket, a ring positioned in the seat about the socket, av

disk fitting against the portion of the permanent heel port-ion inclosed by the ring and extending in overlapping relation to the ring, the portion of the permanent heel portion inclosed by the ring engaging the inner face of the disk, a boss extending from the plate into the socket and having a threaded opening, a heel fitting beneath the permanent heel portion and having the rlng connected with its upper face, and a securing. screw extending through the permanent heel portion and into the threaded opening of the boss.
