EDWIN L. BROOKETT, OF NELSON, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN BED-BOTTOMS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 140,005, dated June 17, 1873; application filed May 9, 1873.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWIN L. BROCKETT, of Nelson, in the county of Portage and State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Bed-Bottom and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification.
The invention consists in improving the construction of slatted bed-bottoms, and will first be described in connection with all that is necessary to a full understanding thereof, and then clearly pointed out in the claims.
Figure 1 is a side elevation, and Fig. 2 a transverse section, of my improved bed-bottom.
In the drawing, A is the frame of a bedbottom on whose head and foot pieces B B are arranged at intervals the blocks 0. Over these blocks is passed a continuous wire, D,
having a series of cranks, d, that hang in the spaces between the blocks. They are secured on the top of each block by transverse staples c and longitudinal grooves c. E is a series of slats, composed of a flat top, 0, flat bracesprings e e, and flat bottom 0 In the botclaim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The continuous Wire D having cranks d, combined with grooved blocks 0 0 having staples c, and arranged at intervals on head 'and foot pieces B B, to support the slats, in
the manner described.
2. The cranked wire D journaled in frame A so as to be movable inwardly, in combination with slats having an oblique slot, 6 in each end, as and for the purpose set forth.
