TOILET ARTICLE.
Application filed. June 20,
To all who n2 it may concern:
Be it known that l, FRANK GHROBAK, a citizen of Poland, residing at Orient, in the county of Fayette and State of, Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toilet Articles of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in toilet articles and has particular reference to a combination toilet article embodying a brush and mirror frame adapted to be secured altogether and provide a housing for a comb or manicure implements.
The primary object of the invention resides in the provision of a toilet article wherein brush and mirror elements are detachably connected together by manually re leasable tensiondevices so that the parts may be separated and used as desired.
l Vith the above general objects in view and others that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawing and claimed.
In the drawing, wherein like reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views,
Figure 1 is a plan View of the inner face of the mirror element of the toilet article showing a nail file confined therein.
2 is a plan view of the back face of the brush element showing a comb and shoe button hook disposed therein,
3 is a side elevational view, partly in section of the mirror and brush elements secured together and illustrating the tension latch for holding the parts in assembled relation,
Fig. 4 is a cross sectional view taken on line I l-IV of Fig. 3 showing the pivoted hook connection between the mirror and brush elements, and
Fig. 5 is a cross sectional view taken on line VV of Fig. 1 showing the nail file confined within the mirror element.
Referring more in detail to the accompanying drawing and particularly to Figs. 1, 2 and 4: there is illustrated a toilet article embodying a mirror frame 1 and a brush frame 2, the outer edges of the opposed faces of the mirror and brush frames being provided with contacting flanges 3 as shown in Fig. 4. to form a casing or housing be- Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 115, 1921.
1921. Serial No. 479,062.
tween the mirror and brush frames as illus trated.
The two frames are of the conventional form embodying enlarged head portions and reduced handle portions, the mirror frame 1 having a glass 4- secured in the enlarged end thereof as shown in Figs. 1 and a, while the neck portion connecting the head and handle portion is provided with opposed overhanging ledges 5 .for engagement with the blade 6 of a nail file that is disposed within the handle as shown in Fig. 1. i
The brush frame 2 has a bristle portion 7 upon the outer face thereof and a headed pin 8 secured centrally of the inner face of the head portion for confining a comb 9 as shown in Fig. 2. The handle portion of the brush. frame may receive any convenient toilet article such as a button hook 10.
The connection between the mirror and brush frames embodies pivot hook, and ten sion latch devices. one side flange 3 of the brush frame 2 adjacent the opposite ends thereof being provided with openings cov ered by face plates 11 having a central aperture 12 for the reception of pivot hooks 13 carried by adjacent portion on the flanges 3 of the mirror frame 1, these elements being clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The tension latch device for locking the mirror and brush frames in assembled relation embodies a pair of plates 14 secured to the other flanges 3 of the mirror frame 1 and having central apertures 15 therein. The flanges 3 of the brush frame 2 opposite the face plates .11 are cut away as at 16 upon the face thereof. such cut away portions communicating with lateral openings 17 A cup-shaped frame 18 is disposed within the cut away portion 16 and has a latch 19 pivoted therein and tensioned as at 20 to cause the latch head 19 to be projected through the opening 15 in the plate 14 and so retained, To release the lever 19 from engagement with the plate 14 and against the tension of the spring 20, the finger lever 21 pivoted within the cup-shaped member 18 and projecting through the side openings 17 as shown in Fig. 3 has a link connection 22 with the latch lever 19, so that operation of the finger lever 21 will shift the latch lever 19 to disengage the latch lever head 19' from the plate 1 1. operation of the latch devices at each end of the article permitting separation thereof.
From the above detail description of the device, it is believed that the construction and operation thereof will at once be apparent, it being noted that the channel construction of the mirror and other elements provides a casing or receptacle for toilet or manicure articles while the tension latch connections between the mirror and brush elements securely hold the parts in assembled relation.
While there is herein shown and described the preferred embodiment of the present in vention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
' What is claimed as new is 1. A toilet article comprising mirror and brush frames, each frame having opposed marginal flanges, one of said frames having openings in the marginal flange at one side thereof, hook members carried by one of the marginal flanges of the other frame for reception in said openings, and tension latch devices connecting the other adjacent marginal flanges.
2. A toilet article comprising mirror and brush frames, each frame having opposed marginal flanges, one of said frames having ception in said openings, tension latch devices connecting the other adjacent marginal flanges, said tension latch devices including keeper openings formed in the side flange of one frame, and tension latch levers pivotally mounted in the adj acent'flange of the other frame.
a 3. A toilet article comprising mirror and brush frames, each frame having opposed marginal flanges, one of said frames having openings in the marginal flange at one side thereof, hook members carried by one of the marginal flanges of the other frame for reception in said openings, tensionlatch devices connecting the other adjacent marginal flanges, said tension latch devices including keeper openings formed in the side flange of one frame, latch levers pivotally mounted in the adjacent flange of the other frame, a spring associated with'each latch lever for holding the same under tension,
and finger levers for operating the tensioned latch levers.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
