To all whom it may concern:

e it known that I, Lonrsn Prnrnns, a citizen of the United States, and resident of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sanitary edpans, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to sanitary bed pans, and has for its objects to provide an article of this character which embodies novel features of utility adapted for the several purposes for which such articles are usually employed; which may be used without liability of soiling bed clothes, anc which may be maintained in constantly clean and well aired condition.

e above named and other objects are attained by employing a receptacle of adapt able contour, hinged covers therefor, means for maintaining said covers open, means for carrying toilet paper, and other novel features, all as hereinafter fully described and specifically set forth in the annexed claims.

In the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, Figure l. is a top plan view of my improved bed pan. Fig. 2. is a longitudinal sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3. is a side view showing one part of the cover open and in locked relation with the other part thereof; and Fig. 4. is a side view showing the locking means in detail.

In the example of my invention illustrated by the drawings, A indicates an elongated receptacle composed of sheet metal, as tin; said receptacle is comparatively deep at its rearward part, and it is shallow and tapered at its forward part, as indicated by a; the rearward wall Z) of said receptacle is provided with a spout or contracted extenof approximately semicircular planwhich may be used for either ingress or egress of fluid substance. Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent :is
