To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN HoRWooD, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at 10 Ivy Yard, Ivy street, Hoxton, in
the county of London, in England, have invented a new and useful Improvement. in
compass; Fig. 2, is a front elevation of the compass; Fig. 3, is a side elevation of the compass showing the point; Fig. 4, is the inside elevation of the spring pencil leg, and Fig. 5, is the inside elevation of the spring point. 7
My invention is constructed with a circular block 0 and handle d, the said block 0 having a spring a bent to the required shape and-fixed thereto. The spring a is provided with ends t, and r, bent at right angles. I claim:
Springbow comp-asses comprising a handle, a bow spring fixedly secured at its center to said handle, the legs of the bow: spring being arcuate and-having perforated projections at their ends, one of said legs having secured thereto a member having a perforated projection Spaced from the projection at the vend of the leg, said leg being provided-between said projections with a tapered slot, a spring clip slidable in said slot and adapted to hold a marker receivable in the perforations of said projections, the other leg being similarly slotted, means for adjustably securing a needle point in the perforation of said other leg, and means for adjusting the legs of said bow spring relatively to each other.
