Description

J. J. DESMOND.
PENHOLDER SUPPORT.
APPLICATION FILED nmzs, 1919.
1 ,388,175. Patented Aug. 23, 1921..
UNITED STATES JOSEPH J. DESMOND, 0F CORRY, PENNSYLVANIA.
PENHOLDER-SUPPORT.
Application filed December 26, 1919.
To all whomv it may concem:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH J. DESMOND, a citizen of the United States, residing at Corry, in the county of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Penholder-Supports; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, forming part of this specification.
My invention relates to holders for fountain pens, and has for .its object the construction of a holder which will grasp the barrel of a fountain pen and allow one end of the pen holder to come to rest below the opposite end thereof.
The features of my invention are herein after fully described and pointed out and are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1, is a front view in elevation of my improved fountain pen holder.
Fig. 2, is a side elevation of the same.
In these drawings A indicates the base of my fountain pen holder. B indicates an u right post secured in the base A. C and indicate separate rods pivoted transversely at opgosite sides of the upper end of the post D, D, indicatedownwardly projecting arms on the rods 0 and C, to the lower ends of which are secured weights E, which weights acts to maintain the arms D in a downward position, as shown in Fig. 1.
Secured on the weights E or arms D are Specification of Letters Patent.
Serial No. 347,485.
spring clamcps F adapted to yieldingly clamp the barrel. (see Fig. 2) of a fountain pen so that when the pen is released by the fingers the clam F and weights E will swing on the pivot in the upper end of the post B, and permit the barrel of the pen to drop downwardly as shown in Fig. 2, so that ink within the barrel of the pen G will not leak therefrom.
I am aware it is not new to provide a pivotal support adapted to receive a pen, and such I do not claim as my invention, my invention being limited to the employment of a spring holder when used in connection with the other parts as specified.
Having thus fully described and illustrated my invention so as to enable others to construct and utilize the same, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a device of the class described, a weighted base, a vertical post secured to the base, a pair of rods pivoted transversely at opposite sides of the upper end of the post, a. weight secured on the lower end of each of Patented Aug. 23, 1921.
the rods and a spring clip mounted on each d of the weights.
2. In a device of the class described, a
weighted base, a vertical post secured to the base, a pair of rods, each of the rods having JOSEPH J. DESMOND.
