Specification of Letters Patent.

To all 20. mm it may concern:

Be it known that I, CLINTON STARBARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at orr-ester, in the county of W'Vorcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in IIolders for Nursing-Bottles; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appcrtains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to a holder or support for nursing bottles and has for its object to provide a support of this kind comprising an adjustable member adapted to receive the bottle and whereby the bottle may be tilted at the proper angle to suit the child.

A further object of the invention is to provide means for checking the backward movement of the bottle when the nipple is released by the child so that the contents thereof will not be spilled.

With the foregoing and other objects in view, the'invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the holder with the clamping loop in a forwardly inclined position; Fig. 2 is a plan view with the clamping loop in its extreme rearwardly inclined position; Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the device with the clamping loop in the position indicated in Fig. 2.

Referring to the drawings for a more particular description of the invention, 1 inclicates a support or stand which comprises a base having side and

end pieces

2 and 3, respectively, and vertical side frames 4' of approximately V-shaped form, provided at their upper ends with bearing eyes 5. The support also comprises the diagonally disposed brace bar 6 which extends between two of the diagonally disposed vertical pieces of the side frames 4, and which adds strength and rigidity to the device. The support or stand 1 is formed from a single piece of wire bent into the required form.

The numeral 7 indicates the bottle clamping member which is bent or made from a single piece of wire and comprises a loop 8 provided at opposite ends with the lateral extensions 9 which are mounted in the bearing eyes 5 of the support and having a free side which may be bent to accommodate the loop to bottles of various sizes. One end of the wire forming the clamping loop is bent to form a lateral arm 11 having its outer terminal bent to form an inwardly extending extension 12 which engages the side piece 13 of the adjacent side frame 4 when the clamping loop is in the position indicated in Figs. 2 and 3 of the drawings.

In practice, the bottle is placed in the clamping loop and may be tilted forward at the proper inclination to suit the child. hen the nipple is released by the child, the bottle clamping loop swings rearwardly until the extension 12 of the arm 11 engages the side piece 13 which checks any further backward movement of the bottle. The bottle then swings forwardly until in approximately vertical position where it remains.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.

Various changes in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention, as defined in the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:

1. A device of the class described comprising a support constructed from a single piece of wire and comprising vertical side pieces provided at their upper ends with bearing eyes, a bottle clamping loop pivotally mounted in the bearing eyes of said side pieces and adapted to swing forwardly to permit the bottle to be adjusted at the proper forward inclination, and a lateral arm provided with an inwardly extending extension adapted to engage one of the side pieces of the support and limit the backward lswinging movement of the bottle clamping 2 A device of the class described comprising a support constructed from a single piece of wire and comprising a base and vertical V-shaped side pieces having their upper ends bent to form bearing eyes, a bottle clamping loop having one side free for adjustment and lateral extensions at opposite ends adapted to turn in the bearing eyes of Patented Aug. 2a, 1909.
