Description

J. C. BRADLEY.
AUXILIARY HEATING PLATE.
APPLICATION FILED OCT. 21, 1920.
1 391 1 PatentedSept. 20, 1921.
Jessie 0. Bradley,
Q iQ.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
AUXILIARY HEATING-PLATE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented-Sept. 20, 1921.
Application filed October 27, 1920. Serial No. 420,008.
T 0 all 10 ham it may concern Be it known that I, JESSIE C. BRADLEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oakland, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Auxiliary Heating-Plates, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is a warming device appli cable to stoves for keeping the foods warm.
Referring to the annexed drawing in which my invention is illustrated, and which forms a part of this specification:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of one form of my warming plate applied to the under side of the top plate of a gas stove, said plate being shown in section.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the warming plate shown in Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of another form of my warming plate.
Fig. 4.- is a side view of the warming plate shown in Fig. 3.
Fig. 5 is a side view of another form of my warming plate applied to the top of the top plate 0 a gas stove, the top plate being shown in section.
Fig. 6 is a plan view of the plate shown in Fig. 5.
The form of my invention shown in Figs. 1,2, 5 and 6 includes a ring 1, a plate 2 and a connecting member 3 which connects said ring and said plate. The connecting memher 3 has a bend at in it which offsets the ring 1 above the plate 2, so that the device may i be placed under the topplate 5 of a gas stove with the ring 1 resting against the under side of said top plate around its burner opening 6, and with the connecting member 2 extending under the depending edge flange 7 of said top plate and the plate 2 outside said flange. The device is detachably secured to the top plate 5 by a bolt 8,
Whlch extends through said top plate and an aperture 9 in the connectingmember 3; a nut 10 which screws on the lower end of said bolt against said connecting member,
and a butterfly nut 11 which screws on the upper end ofsaid bolt against the top of said top plate and draws the ring 1 against the under side of the top plate and the connecting member 3 against the lower edge of the edge flange 7. The stove burner 12 which is mounted under the burner opening 6 directs its flame through the ring 1 and said opening.
The form of my invention shown in Figs. 3 and 4 includes a grid 15, a plate 16 and a connecting member 17 in which is a bend 18 which offsets the plate 16 above the grid 15. The grid 15 rests within the opening 6 of the stove top plate 5 upon lugs 19 projecting from the under side of the top plate under said opening and the plate 2 rests above the top plate by reason of the bend 18.
The ring 1 of the form of my invention shown in Figs. 5 and 6 rests upon the stove grid 20 which rests within the opening 6 on the lugs 19, and the plate 2 rests over the top plate 5.
Food in a receptacle is kept warm when the receptacle is placed on either of the plates 2 or 16.
Having described my invention, I claim:
1. A warming device including a ring adapted to rest under the top plate of a stove around the burner opening, a plate resting outside the depending edge flange of said top plate, a connecting member connecting said ring and said plate, and means for mounting the device under the top plate.
2. A warming device including a ring adapted to rest under the top plate of a stove around the burner opening, a plate Testing outside the depending edge flange of said top plate, a connecting member connecting said ring and said plate, a bolt extending through. said connecting member and said top plate, and a nut screwing on the upper, end of said bolt against the top plate to hold the device in position under said top'plate.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
JESSIE C. BRADLEY.
