Description

June 10, 1924.
v P. RUT KOWSKl -cms SAVING- AND POT-"PROTECTING DEVICE Filed Nov. 22, 1923 //V VEN TOR.
Patented June 10, '1924.
PETER RUTKOVTSKI, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
GAS-SAVING AND POT-PROTECTING DEVICE.
Application filed November 22, 1923.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, PETER RUrKowsKl, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Gas-Saving and Pot-Protecting Devices, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in gas stoves, more particularly to an attachment for such stoves intended to conserve the heat of the gas flame, and to prevent a burning and tarnishing of the bottom of the cooking vessels, and for protecting the flame against draft and overflow of liquids and food.
Another object of the invention is the provision of an attachment for gas stoves which is simple and inexpensive to make and which can conveniently be attached to any stove.
These and other objects of my invention will become more fully known as the description thereof proceeds, and will then be specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawing forming a material part of this disclosure:
Figure 1 is a top plan view of an attachment constructed according to the present invention.
Figure 2 is a cross-section on line 2-2 of Figure 1.
The attachment consists of a casing 10, preferably made of metal, adapted to be placed upon a burner, with the feeding plpes for the same within the recesses 11.
The casing 10 has a roof 12 equipped with an inner lining 13 preferably asbestos. In its center the cover or roof 12 is provided with an opening 14, over which a raised frame 15 is located having suitable open spaces between its bars.
A dome 16 surmounts or rises above the roof 12 over the opening 1 1- and frame 15. The dome 16 has a roof 17, the inner face of which is provided with a lining 18 preferably asbestos.
On top of the roof 17 is pivotally secured in approximately its middle as at 19, a bar 20 provided with flanged open ends 21 an'd 22 adapted to be engaged by the oppositely disposed prongs 23 of the customary spider or' grate 24C for the stove upon which the cooking vessels, etc., are placed.
It will be clear that the attachment described above when placed over a burner,
Serial No. 676,427.
will prevent the flame from .spreading and against drafts and thus concentrate the entire force of the same onto the roof and the cooking vessels supported thereby. Furthermore, the asbestos lined roofs will prevent an extinguishing of the flame by the overflow of liquids and foods, and a burning of the bottoms of the cooking vessels and a tarnishing of the same by smoke and soot, thus guaranteeing a clean cooking operation and preventing a burning of the food.
It will be clear that changes may be made in the general arrangement and in the construction of the minor details'of my invention, without deviating from the scope and spirit thereof.
hat I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is:
1. A gas stove attachment comprising a flanged casing adapted to be placed over a burner, a roof for said casing, a dome on top of said roof, means rotatably secured to the top of said dome for allowing a fastening of said attachment to a grate, and protect the flame against drippings, and means for preventing a tarnishing of the cooking vessels.
2. A stove attachment of the class described comprising a casing including depending flanges on said casing for protecting the flame against draft, provided with recesses for allowing the passage of the burner feed pipes, a roof for said casing for protecting the flame against drippings from overflow, provided with openings, a dome on said roof, a bar pivotally secured intermediate its ends on top of said dome and adapted to engage with its ends the prongs of a grate for securing said attachment over 'a burner, and means for preventing a tarnishing of the cooking vessels.
3. A stove attachment of the class described comprising a casing, means for placing said casing over a stove burner and protecting the flame against draft, a roof for said casing for protecting the flame against drippings, an asbestos lining for the inner face of said roof, a dome surmounting said roof and having a top, an inner asbestos lining for said top, and means pivotally secured to said top for securing the attach ment to a grate over the burner.
In testimony whereof I have afliXed my signature.
PETER RUTKOWSKI.
