APPLICATION FILED FEB. 17. 1920.

.Z'NVENTOR: HARRY A/WCfLL/G'O T7 WWWMMMW Specification or letters Patent.
Application filed February 1?, 19%. herlal No. 359.35%.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, HARRY A. MCELLI- oorr, a citizen of the United States, residing at Minneapolis, in the county of Henriepin and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Calendar-F obs, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to calendar fobs and an object is to provide a device which may be worn as a fob, locket or charm and which is adapted to hold a calendar card in such manner that the latter may be inspected by looking at the face of the device without opening it. Another object'is to provide a device of this character in which the cards may be readily changed for succeeding years.
The full objects and advantages of my invention will appear in connection with the detailed description thereof and the novel features embodied in my inventive idea will be particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings,-
Figure 1 is a front elevational view. Fig. 2 is a view in vertical central section. Fig. 3 is a front view of a calendar card.
As shown in the drawings, T provide a foh or locket having a front member 10 and a back member 12 hinged together by a hinge 14: at one end, and provided with an eye 16 at the other end which is secured to one of the members so that the device may be carried on a chain. Means for securing the two members together such as a snap catch is provided adjacent the eye 16. The front member is cut away to provide a large central opening through which the calendar card 20 may be viewed. This card, as best shown in Fig. 3, is oval shape so as to fit within the fob and is provided with a calendar containing the months and days of a particular year, the year being imprinted partly at the top and partly at the bottom. The cards may be made of any suitable thin sheet material such as celluloid, and they are suiiiciently thin so that at least three cards for consecutive years may be carried within the fol, as shown in Fig. Q. The front menu" her 10 addition to being provided with the large opening for viewing the months is provided wittour holes 9A, 9.6 and @8 through which the figures of the year are visible, the holes 22 and 24 being at the top to expose the first two figures of the year, and the holes 26 and 28 being at the bottom to expose the last two figures of the year.
The operation and advantages of my invention will be readily understood from the foregoing description. The device may be worn as a fob, locket or charm, and at the end of any year may be opened to remove the calendar card of the year which has just expired. if desired for reference the eX- pired card could, of course, be placed back of the current card, so that the device would contain calendar cards for the past year, the current year and the following year. The wearer of the device is assured of having a calendar of the'current year always at hand which can be inspected by simply looking at the face of the fob, while by opening the fob the calendar for the past year and the following year may be inspected. The device may be constructed of any suitable sheet material and may be made highly ornamental so as to present an attractive appean ance. The device may be worn as a weight at the end of a chain.
it claim:
A. calendar fob comprising in combination two oval-shaped recessed members adapted to fit together so as to form a shallow receptacle when closed, a hinge connecting said members at one end of the Patented dept. l3, ld il.
longitudinal axis of the fob, an eye member secured to one of said oval-shaped morn bars at the end thereof opposite said hinge and by means of which the fob may be suspended, and an oval calendar card adapted to fit into said receptacle, said card containing the months of the year, and having the first two figures of the year above the months and the last two figures of the year below the months, one of said oval-shaped members being provided with a cut-out portion for viewing the months on said card, and being also provided with two holes above and two holes below said cut-out portion for viewing the figures of the year.
Tn testimony whereof ll hereunto affix my signature.
A. MoELLlIGUTT.
