To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l. Gosrnv Brenna, a citizen of the German Republic, and residing at Vvald, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Heels with Interchangeable Treads, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a heel for boots and shoes of the kind having an interchangeable tread of rubber or other appropriate material, which is fixed below the heel by means of a bayonet-like pin fixed on a plate carrying said tread.
The novelty consists in the fact that the plate carrying the tread is of such springy action that it pulls the tread firmly upon the heel and which engages in the heel.
In the ann KGCl drawing: Figure 1 is an underside plan view of the heel, while Figs. 2 and are cross sections on the lines AB and C-D of Fig. 1 respectively.
On the rear side of the tread a, a steel plate 6 is lined, which is so cut out that a springy bridge 0 and a springy arm (Z are "formed thereon. On the bridge 0, a bayonetlike pin 6, and on the arm (Z a pin 7, are arranged. Below the heel a metal disk 9 is fixed, which is provided with an elongated slot h and with an opening 2'.
To fix the tread a beneath the heel, the tread is held transversely to the heel and the bayonet-like pin 0 is introduced into the slot it of the metal disk 9. Upon adjusting the tread so as to suit its proper position on the heel the bayonetdike pin a engages below the metal disk 9 and the pin 7" in the opening 2' of the metal disk 9. The tread a is thus secured against movement in all directions on the heel.

At the same time, the tread a is pulled by the springy action of the bridge 0 firmly upon the heel.
To remove the tread from the heel, a knifelike metal piece is inserted between heel and springy arm 03 of the plate Z2, whereby the pin 7" of the arm d is lifted out of the opening i of plate b, whereupon the turning of the tread and withdrawal of the bayonet-like pin e from the metal disk 9 of the heel is possible.
What I claim, is:
A heel comprising an upper fixed portion having a recess in its face, a plate covering said recess and having a rectangular opening and a circular opening, a detachable portion having a resilient metallic plate secured at its ends only laterally across the same and provided centrally thereof with a bolt having a rectangular head, and a second resilient plate secured at one of its ends to the rear of said detachable portion and extending longitudinally thereof and having near its free end a round pin, the construction and arrangement being such that the head of said bolt can pass through the rectangular opening in said first named plate to engage above said plate when the said detachable heel is turned and that the said pin engages in the said circular hole for the purpose of locking the detachable portion against rotation.
