IMPROVEMENT IN FOLDING SCREENS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 138,507, dated May 6, 1873 application filed April 15, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MANUEL G. LAZARUS, of Pittston, in the county of Luzerne and State of Pennsylvania, have invented an Im- This invention relates to an improvementin folding screens which are designed for affordin g privacy to ladies while trying on shoes, and at the same time furnish an adjustable mirror in which a lady can see how her shoes look when on her feet.
The following description of my invention will enable others skilled in the art to understand it.
In the accompanying drawing, AA Arepresent three sections which are hinged together at b b, so as to constitute a folding screen. Each section is composed of a light frame covered with cloth, on which advertisements may be printed, thus making the screen serve as an advertising medium. This folding screen is portable and mounted on caster-wheels 0 c, which allow it to be convenientlymoved about.
The central section A is provided with extended feet for the purpose of steadily sustaining the screen when unfolded, as shown in Fig. 1, and supporting it in an upright position when folded, as shown in Fig. 2. The central section A has inserted into it near its lower end a mirror, B, which is pivoted at its ends, so that it can be given any desired degree of in cliuation, or adjust it in a vertical plane when it is desired to fold the sections.
If desired the screen may be made double that is to say, two hinged sections in addition to those lettered A A, may be hinged to the vertical edges of the central section. With the double screen I would employ two adjustable mirrors, so that ladiessittin g on opposite sides of the central section will each have a mirror.
The screens will be made of suflicient height to hide from view a person sitting behind them.
I employ a hook and eye fastening, a a, for holding the sections shut when they are folded, as shown in Fig. 2.
